Several years ago we reprinted a bunch of John Blackburn's horror novels, but the rights to this one were tied up in limbo until now. If you aren't familiar with Blackburn, he was the main British horror writer of the 1960s and early '70s, and his novels are unique in how they blur genre boundaries, mixing horror with sci-fi, thriller, mystery, etc. For Fear of Little Men (1972) is recognized as one of his best, and aside from a sold-out Centipede hardcover a few years ago it has been out of print for decades. This book will appeal to fans of folk horror and vintage Hammer Horror films. Cover design by Matthew Revert.

Book Description

'We daren't go a-hunting for fear of little men' - words from an old children's song, but to the residents of one Welsh village it's more than just a nursery rhyme. A legend has been handed down through the ages, telling of an ancient mountain people, dedicated to evil, who were massacred by the villagers' ancestors three thousand years ago. No animals ever graze on the northern slope of the mountain where the bloodshed took place and strange incidents befall anyone who wanders there.

Reviews

'He is certainly the best British novelist in his field and deserves the widest recognition.' - Penguin Encyclopedia of Horror and the Supernatural

'A stylish, genuinely chilling author . . . undoubtedly one of England's best practicing novelists in the tradition of the thriller novel.' - St James Guide to Crime & Mystery Writers
