It was a great game to watch on TV. I hope it wasn't too awful for Tim in the stands. At least he won some money with both him and Blastro tipping the exact margin of 15 points. So it's $7.00 each for the Koala Hospital @ Port Macquarie (Tim) and Zaidee's Rainbow Foundation (Blastro). Great work!

Too late for the first game, but I had tipped the Blues by 17 points. I knew they were going to win, but hey ho, that might cost me my lead now!
Here,s the rest:

After watching a Wagner opera this afternoon (conservatively timed at 4 hours and 20 minutes but worth it all for Jonas Kaufmann), I was supposed to be seeing the musical "Jersey Boys" this evening. Seen it before and it's fabulous! But it was not to be; got a text about an hour before the curtain to say it was cancelled. Presumably Covid. The same happened earlier this month when myself and two friends turned up for the Bob Dylan-themed musical "Girl From The North Country" - arrived to find the doors shut and staff explaining the cancellation. We've re-booked for the Dylan but I doubt I'll be able to get to Jersey Boys before it closes. Anyway, it meant I was at home to flick between me shouting abuse at my team (Essendon) for another hapless performance and me cheering on the change of government as our election results came through. PM Scomo was on the nose for many reasons but now he has quit as leader, pray we don't get Peter Dutton!

Like you sat in front of tv last evening cheering on all the election news and the demise of Scomo. I have bad feelings that it must be Dutton but at least it will be in opposition.
We had the really pleasing news of Zoe Daniels in our seat of Goldstein throwing out Tim Wilson who seemed to give up weeks ago once he lost the great sign debacle.
Thanks Val for your kind thoughts of my evening at Marvel but at least it was a good match and apart from the second quarter the Swans held up against the Blues.

I hope you enjoy it Tim. It is long and I found myself drifting a bit in the second act but the singing from all the soloists is superb and some of the musical interludes (particularly the prelude to Act 3) are beautiful. The set is a bit convoluted with lots of symbolism (much of which I didn't get) but overall, a great performance.
Congratulations on ousting Tim Wilson in Goldstein. I've never liked him since his time with the I.P.A. And those emails to Bayside Council re the corflutes (a word I haven't encountered prior to this election) were just petty. We're in Higgins (Peter Costello was our MP for years) and we voted out Katie Allen in favour of Labor's Michelle Ananda-Rajah. I despair of Peter Dutton leading the LNP. Karen Andrews isn't strong enough, nor is Angus Taylor (IMO) but Dutton is downright dangerous. I'd much prefer Josh Frydenberg - if he can make a comeback. Anyway, hopefully we will see some meaningful legislation in the months ahead.

Congratulations on Higgins which was a wonderful result. Our friend has just moved into Prahran from Sydney but unfortunately for this election she was still registered in Sydney for what was her first election since gaining her citizenship.

I saw a Lohengrin with a great Swan at Covent Garden that also at times had a mesh over the entire face of the set that made a very good effect of rippling water. I am just disappointed that Victoria will not be able to scream to herself "Swan" as she always does in reference to the Simon Pegg film Hot Fuzz.
The Flying Dutchman sounds great. I think the audience is supposed to feel sea sick given the storm is blowing for at least 80% of that opera.
What a shame your Saturday is so ruined. We went to La Traviata
two Saturdays ago and loved the performance.

Swans by 15. Fingers crossed but not that optimistic although Tigers revival has been at lower end teams so far

Good luck folks.

Last week was Indigenous Round where teams celebrate the amazing skills of aboriginal players. They also wear a special guernsey (often designed by one of the current or former players). Melbourne chose to honour the occasion by changing their name (for one week only) to Narrm - "the Aboriginal name for Melbourne, comes from Woi Wurrung, the language spoken by the traditional owners of the city and its surrounds". The round always starts with the Richmond v Essendon game - Dreamtime at the G - and is preceded by The Long Walk where fans gather at Federation Square and walk in procession to the MCG. I can't find footage on Youtube of this year's ceremony but here's one from 4 years ago to give you an idea:

Please let me know if I've made any mistakes! Well done Tim! - he's back on top. And Blastro (Dogs made mincemeat of the Crows) and David (very close checking!). I'm not sure if the leader board is thinning out any but hopefully it will as the weeks unfold.

We're on to three rounds of byes with six teams getting one week's rest over that time. Should make my job a bit lighter!

An exciting game even though Geelong lost focus mid-way through (once defender Tom Stewart got subbed off with concussion). The Dogs got within a goal but Geelong fought back in the final quarter and held on to their lead. Duke was nearest the pin with his tip of the Cats by 9 so he wins $7.00 for the Centre For Eye Research Australia - well done!
