Dunno what,s going on GWS,s camp, they,ve got plenty of talent, a low injury list, but performance is poor. And now Leon Cameron is resigning after 10 years in the job, despite taking the team to their 1st grand final 3 years ago?! You,d think the man most at pressure to quit would be the guy running West Coast!
That said, a new coach has worked wonders for Carlton, maybe the Giants will pick up the pace soon, with somebody else in charge, but not in this round! GWS have won their last 3 matches against the blues, somehow I don,t think they,ll make it a forth.

Very few commentators thought Leon Cameron should go. I don't think he was even under that much pressure from within the club. I think he just thought it was the right thing for him to do. He may well turn up again at another club. You're right about the Eagles coach - Adam Simpson has been there 9 years now and this season has been a disaster, abetted by Covid outs and questionable recruiting. Of course, he did win a Premiership for them in 2018. As a former North Melbourne player, there's a lot at Arden Street who would love to see him back there, although David Noble isn't copping too much blame as he seems to be doing as best he can with the players he's got and a rather dysfunctional club. Ken Hinkley at Port is always under pressure and his record isn't that bad - it's just the team always seems to fold at the final hurdle. The elephant in the room is Alistair Clarkson who finished up at Hawthorn last year (with a AU$900,000 payout). He took the Hawks to 4 Premierships between 2008 and 2015. And his proteges (i.e. assistant coaches under his leadership) include Damien Hardwick (Richmond coach 2010–), Leon Cameron (Giants coach 2014–2022), Adam Simpson (West Coast Eagles coach 2014–), Luke Beveridge (Western Bulldogs coach 2015–), Brendon Bolton (Carlton coach 2016–2019), Chris Fagan (Brisbane Lions coach 2017-), Brett Ratten (St Kilda coach 2020–), Sam Mitchell (Hawthorn coach 2022–), Craig McRae (Collingwood coach 2022–). Not a bad record! He could wind up at the Giants, or the Suns, or even a new team from Tassie????

It's still tight as a fish's bum on the overall ladder with only 2 points separating more than half of us. You folk are good! But do check your scores for any mistakes I might have made.

I think most of the rounds have been fairly predictable (with just the odd surprise result - what the heck happened to Freemantle??!!), just wait until we start getting into rounds with more evenly matched teams, then that,ll begin to undo the glue that been sticking us lot together thus far!
Oh, Val I did see your response to my wee outburst re my team,s woeful performance. I wonder how much longer Simpson can hold his job? He could be next!
A team from Tasmania sounds cool, infact I have wondered why there isn,t a team from say Alice Springs or Darwin or even the capital? Most of the teams seemed to based only in the southern, westerly and easterly metropolitans. None from the central or far north. Do they not play at these places??!!

There has been a big push to get a team from Tassie to join the comp. The AFL even has a special task force looking into it. Whether it will happen or not remains to be seen. Many big stars, past and present, hail from Tassie and the North/Hawks games in Hobart/Launceston don't seem to have impressed the locals. It doesn't help that those games are rarely against any of the big name clubs. Last year, when Essendon were travelling pretty well, they were the away team for Hawthorn's game in Launceston. The game was sold out and there were traffic jams all around the ground so there is an appetite for a decent match-up. If Tassie was granted a licence, it would mean a 19 team competition so there would be a bye each week - a very messy fixture. Re Alice Springs/Darwin/the Northern Territory - while they are big supporters of Aussie Rules, I think it all boils down to marketing/money. First are there stadiums of sufficient standard, will enough people pay to watch, will there be sufficient sponsorship and memberships of a new club - and remember, this is a big country, travel costs are very expensive. There could well be a move for another NSW team - Newcastle, Wollongong, Wagga Wagga??? In the end, the AFL will make a decision one way or another but you can be sure that it will be the AFL who will benefit - before the clubs, players or fans.

I know I sat next to some locals who were mad for the game and although their team lost that night they had a wonderful time. They were all really up for it in some way that fans in Melbourne take for granted.
