Thanks Mark. I am too late for last nights match but tipped it incorrectly anyway so nothing lost. Remaining tipsSydney

Hi Val if it helps I picked 6 out of 9 last week missing out on Collingwood, Adelaide and WCE. Nowhere near margin in Carlton win either. Think I had them by 12
Hoohah! I,d punch the air if I could, but me arms are still a bit weak! Must be a good omen me hopes. These early rounds always seem to produce oddball results, but well done the plucky blues. And welcome aboard Tim too. 😊 Val has a few teams left for you pick from, if you ask her.
Welcome Tim, I'll credit you with 6 correct for week one.Your tips for Round 2 are on.
I make a charity donation for the highest score of each round (if it's "your" team). Teams that are currently unattached are Port, Hawthorn, Freo, Blues and Cats. If you'd like to choose one, I will assign them to you. Also, would you like to nominate a charity for your winnings to go to? You'll see the 2nd post on the first page of this thread shows charities that everyone has selected. Feel free to choose any Australian charity that speaks to you. Good luck and welcome to our merry band!
Tim - I only require the margin for the first game of each round (this is a very simple competition!). Do you have any idea how much you tipped the Demons to win by in Round 1? Or the Doggies last night?
Tonight's result:Sydney Swans (Anita) v Geelong Cats (available)
4.3.27 (Q1) 2.4.16
11.3.69 (Q2) 6.7.43
15.4.94 (Q3) 8.13.61
17.5.107 (Q4) 10.17.77
It was a big night at the Sydney Cricket Ground tonight when Buddy Franklin scored his 1000th goal. Only the sixth player ever to achieve this feat. It may happen again but certainly not in my lifetime. I was happy for him that he was able to do it in front of his home crowd. Hundreds of spectators swarmed onto the field and the game was halted for 33 mins while everyone celebrated and then had to be shepherded off. Geelong were never really in it and the 30 point margin flatters them in some respects. But had they kicked truer, it would have been much more interesting.
Today's/Tonight's results:Collingwood Magpies (Tech) v Adelaide Crows (Dean)
5.3.33 (Q1) 1.5.11
7.5.47 (Q2) 3.6.24

6.5.41 (Q2) 5.4.34
8.7.55 (Q3) 9.7.61
10.9.69 (Q4) 12.10.82
I was out most of today and night so not much to report. My Bombers started well but soon fell in a heap. Heaven knows what happened over in Adelaide. Port were tipped for big things this year and the pundits said the Hawks were hopeless. But right this minute it's the Hawks sitting top of the ladder and Port stone cold motherless last!
Today's/Tonight's results:North Melbourne Kangaroos (Steve) v West Coast Eagles (Sussex)
3.3.21 (Q1) 2.3.15
6.10.46 (Q2) 4.4.28

6.4.40 (Q3) 8.10.58

A decent win for North Melbourne, a good hit out for Richmond and a gallant half-time turn around for St. Kilda.

Hi Val if you mean my margins in week 1 I tipped Melbourne by 12 so was 14 off and in week 2 tipped Bulldogs by 9 so 21 off and gotresult completely wrong as I did many others
Oh wow...what a nice start! Things must really be on the turn at last for me...yay! But, whilst i wouldn't want to knock my own score down Val, but i scored 7 not 8....i got Port and Dockers wrong. Also, i think the demons won their game by a clear margin, you have them tied at 69 a piece with the Suns. Anyhoo....bully to me! :)
Thanks Tim and Duke. It's a good job someone's paying attention. I've amended the Suns/Demons score. Bad job of cut and paste there.
Thanks for your margins Tim. Unfortunately I've had to dock you one point. I thought you had tipped Carlton to beat the Dogs and so I've had to amend that.
Duke, I still have you on 8. You tipped Freo. Can you check again.
Here's what I've got:

Tim,Did you see my post above:

It's not essential, just a bit of fun. Costs you nothing. I make donations to the charities at the end of the season and everyone wins something!

Please, please let me have got it right this time! I blame those late Sunday games over in the west! That and my age!
LoL! No worries Val, ya doing just fine and you are running two threads ATM as well, I haven,t overlooked that! Maybe when in better shape later on in the year, I might feel better to resume as host of Themes once again, if that helps Val? But not just yet, I,ve some way to go with my recovery atm. But an an idea perhaps?Score looks pretty good now.😊
Oh, and I,ve just bought a replacement lappy now. Not new, it,s another recon, but hopefully it,ll do for a while.
Well out of the unattached teams I can only go with the Blues although I am firmly a diehard Swannie. I will be at the match on Thursday night. Pity missed Buddy kicking his 1000th but so pleased he has got that out of the way
I will send details of charity later but I could not find the details of other charities. My tips this week are

Melbourne
Adelaide
GWS
Geelong
Brisbane
Hawthorn
Richmond
Fremantle
Thanks Tim. I know it's hard to feign barracking for a team that's not your own. When I first started this tipping comp (10 years ago???), another punter chose "my" Bombers and I felt, as host, it was my duty to take on the Giants in their first season in the AFL. A few years later MK retired from tipping and I was able to get them back. However, I don't think Anita's going to be giving up the Swans - they've been very good to her, including a premiership. My younger daughter and husband are die-hard Bulldogs supporters so they will be at the game on Thursday while I get to babysit. Good luck! The charities currently being supported are:
Val - Essendon (The Bombers) - Asylum Seeker Resource Centre - https://asrc.org.au/
Anita (Sydney Swans) - The Mirabel Foundation - http://www.mirabelfoundation.org.au/

Can I be a pain and name my charity as the Koala Hospital in Port Macquarie? I spent 5 months working up there 7 years ago and am shocked at the decline of this much beloved animal. One day Australians will appreciate how many tourists visit this country with the main aim to see a koala.
The hospital does some wonderful work and returns as many injured animal back to the wild as possible. The address is the koalahospital.org.au

Happy to add the Koala Hospital to the list of charities. I much prefer to give money to smaller organisations who are working "on the ground". I found some excellent local charities in the 2019/20 bushfires but am struggling to find similar for the current flood disasters in NSW/Qld. I don't want to donate to the Red Cross or Salvos where money just disappears into some consolidated pot. I want to get it to people who need help right now!

Anita, the Swans are in your safe hands. I moved to Melbourne from Sydney 15 months ago and whilst still a firm Swans member I feel I should follow someone down here and the Blues seem to be on the up. Of course no contest when they play the Swans.
Good luck everyone. I've messaged Dean but don't know where Philip is. I'm out tonight - babysitting while C & A go to watch their beloved Bulldogs - but I'll be back tomorrow to fill you all in.
Thanks Val for responding on behalf of the Koalas. They also take care of the ones too badly injured to be returned to the wild. We also support a great scheme for breeding Tassie devils in the Barrington Tops.Like you we try to support the small charities
Many apologies Val. With the last football punt being two weeks ago, I haven't been on the Forum and completely forgot about Aussie Rules. Thanks for punting for me and it looks as if I have done much better than I deserved!
Here are my selections for this week:
Sydney x 5
Melbourne
Adelaide
Gold Coast
Collingwood
Brisbane
Hawthorn
St Kilda
Fremantle
I'm back! Survived my trip over to the western suburbs and the 5 year old and 3 year old survived too. Their parents were very happy with the result.Western Bulldogs (Blastro) v Sydney Swans (Anita)

3.10.34 (Q2) 1.3.9
6.15.51 (Q3) 5.3.33

The Swans were always competitive but the Doggies led all night and held on at the end despite their errant kicking. They really need Josh Bruce back. But I was the lucky tipster who was closest to the pin (Dogs by 9) so $7.00 is set aside for the Asylum Seekers Resource Centre.

I watched the Magpies/Cats game and it was a cracker! The Pies will be wishing they had kicked straighter in the early part of the game. With a 5 goal lead at three quarter time you would have thought they were home and hosed. Not so. The Cats fought back so ferociously I was willing them over the line - even though I had tipped the Pies. Great game!
I listened in on that one too, and I thought the Pies had it in the bag. Never underestimate those feisty felines, I say! Ex Giants Jeremy Cameron was superb in that game. I wish he was still with my boys! I see Green is injured at the moment, I hope he recovers quickly.
If you're referring to Toby Green, he's serving a 6 week suspension (from last year) for bumping into an umpire. he'll be back in Round 6.You can see the incident here:
