Dees x 15 (I think their talent level overall is higher than the Lions; plus, shut down Lachie Neale, and it's all over Red Rover. Joe Daniher and Eric Hipwood [who I love] just aren't reliable enough in front of goal and Charlie Cameron can't score enough goals all on his own)
Freo (Giants are possibly the most disappointing side of the season)
North (playing at home, I hope there's a big crowd to cheer on Ben Cunnington, plus I expect the players to be buoyed by the Alistair Clarkson announcement)
Cats (in cruise control with or without Jeremy Cameron)
Tigers (Essendon in disarray and Tigers wanting to show form at the right end of the season)
Port (Port host the hometown derby and will be cock a hoop after last week's score)
Dogs (will need to fight hard and improve their percentage, as well as pray for a Carlton loss, if they want to play Finals footy)
Pies (I think their experience will prove too much for an injury-ridden Carlton [shame though] and the Pies will want that top 4 slot)
Swans (in the box seat and looking primed)
Good luck everyone!

Your money was safe with Clarkson but I think he should have gone to Bombers. Norths will take 2 years just to be competitive.
Your family has certainly seen changes of fortune through the years!
Where did you migrate from? The game is strange at first byt you doget easily hooked
Crikey what were Lions doing tonight. This makes top 2 for Swans highly unlikely

Dockers
Suns
Cats
Tigers

I'll give you the Dees Nick because I'm sure you would have picked them but you'll have to have the equal highest margin (it's quite big this week!)

Your money was safe with Clarkson but I think he..."
I feel the same about Ginnivan. The game needs colour and enthusiasm and characters and he embodies all those qualities. He doesn't deserve the constant commentary. I always thought Clarkson would stay in Melbourne because of family (children at school?) and I thought he would go to North because a) it was his old club and b), more importantly, it was the biggest challenge. Now to see what Horne-Francis is going to do! I think it was too little, too late for Essendon - they didn't have all their ducks in a row. We'll see what happens next there.
Our family is a real hodge-podge. Mr H. is Manchester born and bred and a true red (but his support is much the same as he feels for North - much pulling of hair and grinding of teeth). I was born in Scotland but grew up in what was Rhodesia, now Zimbabwe. I have lived, studied and worked in the U.K. but that was nearly 50 years ago. I'm a Leeds Utd supporter. We lived and worked in New Zealand for a year before coming to Australia, and our three adult children were born here.

That was a mighty drive! 1100 miles! We were flicking back and forth between the AFL and NRL games (we were cheering on the two Melbourne teams) and did comment that it was a poor night to be a Queenslander. Enjoy the celebrations tomorrow and have a safe drive back.

Brisbane Lions (David) v Melbourne Demons (TheFoe)
1.1.7 (Q1) 6.2.38
2.3.15 (Q2) 13.3.81
5.6.36 (Q3) 17.4.106

Melbourne were ruthless in annihilating Brisbane. Some rough play and a fair bit of ill-feeling. Cam Rayner (Lions) is likely to get a week's suspension for a dangerous tackle on Ben Brown. And Dayne Zorko (Lions) seemed to be targeted from the first bounce. Lez's regular tip of a 43 point win was the closest so another $7.00 goes to Dementia Australia.

Well done to all winners!

are still alive are Tech, Blastro, David, Philip, TheFoe and Anita. But remember, all punters are still in the competition to pick winners and earn some cash for their charities. There are no prizes for closest margin or highest score, just $15.00 for the tipster who predicts the most wins with the lowest cumulative margins.
Qualifying and Elimination Finals:
(Qualifying: loser gets a second chance)
(Elimination: loser is out of the Finals)
This time I'd like you to choose the winning team AND the margin for ALL FOUR GAMES. Scoring will be one point for every winner picked and a sliding table based on the margins predicted for each game. There will (hopefully) be one winning punter after all games have been played. $15.00 to your charity is up for grabs.

Congratulations to all those coughing and spluttering in the wake of my dust!
On a run of nightshifts at the moment, but i'll be back with more unbearable one-liners later!
Cheers Val

He's something very special this young man. He's 19 and played his first season of senior AFL alongside his brother Josh (23). They're the sons of champion Collingwood player Peter Daicos who played 250 games and kicked 549 goals for the club in the number 35 – the same number as Nick.

carry on! 😁"
Is it your first time win, Tech? I know some of you were doing this game before i joined in for the 2016 season.

2021 - TheFoe
2020 - Steve
2019 - David
2018 - Tech
2017 - Val
2016 - Philip
2015 - Val
2014 - Lez
2013 - Philip
2012 - Steve

the only stats i've kept are winning this year - had i mentioned that before, y'know that i'm the winner and stuff? 😁

Picture this, a paper boy,
He stands outside a Collingwood hotel
On his back, black and white,
He hums a tune I've learnt to hate so well.
Only the tinny bum Pies could have the gall to sing "Oh, the premiership’s a cakewalk"!

I have my tickets for Swans Friday evening so looking forward to it. My record attending Swans Finals is not good though. Fingers crossed

Magpies x8
Bulldogs x15
Sorry I missed the first game Val, the way my season was going I'd probably have backed the wrong team anyway.

SHIT!!!! I really thought there wuz another day to go!! Was gonna do these meself too. Only when I read Foe's above post and thought 'First game? What does he mean??' so checked further up for dates.
I'll settle for the proxy tips now then. Thanks Val. Apologies much-like.

Brisbane Lions (David) v Richmond Tigers (Philip)
4.3.27 (Q1) 4.3.27
8.5.53 (Q2) 9.5.59
13.7.85 (Q3) 14.6.90
16.10.106 (Q4) 16.8.104
An absolute cracker of a game. I lost count of how many times the lead changed - last I heard, one of the commentators said it was 16. The final Brisbane goal was scored with a minute to go - just when you thought Richmond was home and hosed. The game had everything - star players subbed out with injury, miraculous goals, amazing marks, silly mistakes, you name it! I hope all the other games are this competitive.
