How was this book for you?

Shards of Earth went on sale on Kindle for $2.99 last weekend so I bought it instead of waiting for the long library hold to come through. :) I started last night and read the Prologue and first chapter. I already have great visuals as I'm imaging Earth reshaped into a flower facing the sun.

Anyone else starting this yet?

Nadja | 232 comments I am about half way through and am really enjoying it so far:)

Hayley | 550 comments Yes, it's only 99p on UK kindle which seems really cheap for a book released less than a year ago.

I started it yesterday and got to around 10% but not sure it's really for me. I loved Children of Time and the sequel but I think I'm just not really a fan of space operas with lots of different aliens and planets etc, I get a bit lost. I am intrigued by the idea of the architects though but so far I'm just bored. I'm not sure whether to continue or not as I have heard the start is a bit info dumpy but then picks up after the 20% mark.

I understand, Hayley! I tend to get bored when a book is mostly political intrigue. I'm not far enough into this to have any opinions yet.

How old is the Children of Time series? For some reason I thought it was pretty old, but maybe not.

Book 1 Children of Time was 2015, not old. Unless that's old?

If 7 years ago is old, I'm in trouble. :D

Same here Greg. I’m a little way in and confused but liking it. I’ve learnt the pay off for some effort at the beginning is normally well worth it in Tchaikovsky’s books.

That's pretty new for me. :)

Danielle | 70 comments I read this book last year and remember really loving, book 2 is one of my most anticipated sci-fi releases of the year. I love Tchaikovsky’s other sci-fi series as well (I still haven’t read any of his fantasies).

Fingers crossed everyone else ends up loving it to

I loved it. The characters were great and i loved the relationship between them all. I found the premise of the Architects fascinating even with the little twist at the end.
I found the way that they said goodbye to the crew, obviously sad, but quite entertaining. I'm not sure i would like to know what my loved ones would say about me.
Im very much looking forward to the next one.

The Shadows of the apt series is one of my favorite series ever. I would definitely recommend it if you dont mind a 10 book series of large books.

I'm around 100 pages in and enjoying it. Starting to feel some of the relationships, getting into the various characters on the ship, and reminding me a bit like Becky Chambers' Wayfarers series but with way more descriptions of the war, alien races, and political factions. :)

I was looking at the Shadow of the Apt series! I have to hold myself back until I finish a couple others. I'm really trying to be better about finishing series. :)

I'm about half through now and really invested in this crew. I find the character development, politicking, and action scenes are all so well-balanced in a way that suits me perfectly. :) *need to read more Adrian Tchaikovsky...

Good to hear Shawnie! :) Not sure I'll have time this month, but I added it to my mental "soon" list.
