Quinn was only a few months old, and the size of an adult hawk when a heavy gust of wind, funneled through the canyon where his mother had placed the nest. Being the only one in the circle of sticks, he was easily knocked out and fell to the ground, laying and waiting for death to take him. It was maybe a few hours later, mid afternoon when a girl walked up to him, he watched her trying to keep her away. He'd taken her from a predator, the predators that could never attack the adults and rarely were able to snatch a hontzal egg. But rather than eating him, he felt her pick him up gently and took him to her home. She fed him, nursed him back to health, she was better than any mother, she didn't look like she was going to leave him when he got older. No, she was going to love him, so he would do that for her.

The pet hontzal of Linn Ruan is loyal and fierce, he acts wild, and just like the rest of his species when he isn't around her. He protects her with his life and fights for her with everything he has, knowing that she would do the same for him. Quinn is quick to act and knows how to hunt and track with ease, proving his worth daily, and also using his presence as a tool for Linn when she works. He doesn't care if anyone is scared of him, as long as Linn loves him, he couldn't be happier. Loyalty is key.
