Hi Vivi! I haven't heard of it, but I looked it up and the plot looks super interesting. I love retold fairytales with a twist, bonus points if it's sapphic. Adding to my Want To Read list. What do you think of it so far?
^^^ Hii, yayy I am glad you liked the summary of it!! I really like retold fairy tales too which is why I started reading it, but maybe it's because I am too impatient, but it has a lot of world building? Maybe it's just me but I wanted to know when will the story actually pick up. But overall it seems to be really interesting, very well written. Especially the world the author has crafted. I will definitely keep reading to find out.
Oooh, I see. I suppose in a fantasy book there would be a focus on worldbuilding, but I can see how too much of it could make me lose interest as a reader. It's a delicate balance - providing details about the world to support the story but not hinder it. Anyway, I hope the story picks up soon for you!! (:

I read Malice by Heather Walter late last year. It's a beautifully written, intricately woven and thought provoking dark fantasy tale AND most definitely worth the read. It slowly builds to an unanticipated/heart-wrenching cliffhanger ending (ugh, I'm getting a little teary-eyed just thinking of it now) and I honestly can't wait for the second instalment (Misrule) to hit the shelves. What do you think of it thus far? I remember barely being able to put it down...
Wow, it sounds amazing! Now I've read more than half and I will definitely keep going with it, it's really interesting, I can see it slowly building up to something. It's not everyday there is a queer dark fantasy fairytale retelling, so I can't wait to find out what happens.
Malice is on my TBR BUT, I read The Shadow Of The Gods By John Gwynne and OMG it was actually amazing!!!!
I read it! It was so good and so was Misrule!
I loved the duology! It was something different and absolutely worth the read
I read both books in the duology, and they kind of disappointed me honestly despite the premise being right up my alley. Maybe i'm just too old for young adult, now
100% recommend the first book, but I didn’t really like the second one so I could’ve done without it:/
