Remy Affleck | 2 comments I am trying to find the title and author of a book I read in 2017 in paperback. If remember correctly, I was thinking at the time the Protagonist may had been in maybe a few books before and it felt like I was reading something from a series of books, but I had forgotten at the time to explore it further.

My memory of the book was the Protagonist was an ex-cop and maybe PI/Investigator of some sort. His wife (and maybe child), were dead, but he had ghostly/energy around him which he acknowledge was his wife. He had some sort of connection to spirits and it helped him move through his depression. He was investigating / researching and old crime involving missing people. I remember there was an accountant he needed to speak with to get information on some old financial dealings in this town. He was either from or traveled to the North Eastern US (Maine, New Hampshire/Massachusetts). There was also dark clothed "old slim man" I think he wore black who "helped" him, but there was an occult, not of this earth vibe with him, which the protagonist knew, as he had been visited by this otherworldly man before. I also believe the cover of the paperback had a dark old tree on it, but I may be wrong. I actually though John Grisham or such, but have been unable to find the title. I would like to know if there is more of this character out there. Appreciate any help.

Robert (ricroscupshigh) | 540 comments Something from John Connolly's Charlie Parker series, starting with Every Dead Thing?

"Former New York City policeman Charlie "Bird" Parker is a private investigator whose cases increasingly take on shades of the supernatural."
