How do you guys want to do this - shall we try to read the same amount of pages each day?

I'm really up to whatever style you prefer. We could have a reading schedule and then discuss the stuff we read. But perhaps we should sort it out by chapters? Because we could have different versions, so pages can differ.

I agree. because some of us may have the physical copy or kindle version. so, by chapter sounds good

Just looking in my copy there is 91 chapters and an epilogue - chapters seem to be around 3 to 5 pages each. I'd say I usually read around 70 to 100 pages a day - if we did 23 chapters a day it'd take us 4 days to read (hope my maths is right!!).

How do you feel about doing that?

Yep, your maths is correct, and I think that would work for me. Due to chapters being this short I feel like it wouldn't be a problem.

That sounds great! Unfortunately my copy hasn't arrived on Libby yet but hopefully it'll be here in around 2 more days and I'll catch up with you guys :)

I've just finished chapter 23. Chapters are really super short so it doesn't even feel like you've read that much until you do xd

Just because I want to completely avoid spoiling anything to anyone, I'll use spoilers for sharing my thoughts.

(view spoiler)[ I guess I'm enjoying it so far, I like how all 4 of the Hawthorne grandsons are different from each other. I don't know why, but I'm currently enjoying Nash the most, even though I feel like he should literally be the one I should be the most cautious of, considering his past.
I was so hoping there would be more info about pretty much anything in Avery's letter, but I also realized that there really shouldn't be much, because it's literally the beginning of the first book of trilogy. So I guess I'm interested in how things will unfold and if we'll ever get to know the proper reason, Avery got her fortune.
I also really like Xander and Jameson, because they treat Avery with... idk I don't think respect is the right word but I don't know how else to express it xd Like they are nice to her, Jameson's whole idea of her being grandfather's final riddle is kinda fun, and I'm really looking forward to find out how Avery will cope with all the riddles that are about to come with this family (considering she already passed the first one, with keys)
Also I really hope Avery will stay the heck away from Thea, because surely she is not one to be trusted. (hide spoiler)]

Just started and finished chapter 3 so far. Already liking the writing style and I think I'm going to like Avery too.

I've also just finished chapter 23:

(view spoiler)[ There are a lot of characters to keep track of but they all seem to have different personalities so I think they will be easy to remember. I really like Avery and her relationship with Libby. I want more on Avery and Max's backstory. The Hawthorne brothers are an interesting lot. Grayson seems cruel, and I don't feel like we know Xander much yet. Nash however I am VERY interested in! And Jameson also seems like a good guy at the moment. I do think there will be a lot of deceptions and trust being broken amongst these characters as we get further into the mystery though.

Read up to the end of chapter 26 before work. I like how this (at the moment anyway) is more light hearted than most mystery books, as the mystery is based on the fortune, not the death of someone young like a lot of mystery books are.

Yeah I like this as well, we're really just getting to know the characters and seeing how Avery handles the whole adjustment thing and how she handles the rest of Hawthorne family.

I just finished reading chapter 23.

(view spoiler)[ I love the story. I love how Avery is cautious with everything. She thinks and handles situation very well. As for the Hawthorne Brothers, I thought Grayson is nice but as the story progress he seems so cruel. Nash and Xander seems nice and fun. And Jameson seems like a good guy too. BUT I would not like to trust any of them at the moment because as far as I know, they probly want something fro Avery and they will get it no matter what. (hide spoiler)]

I keep thinking Xander is younger than he is, he feels like a kid. And I still think Nash is the best Hawthorne, I'd like more time with him!

(view spoiler)[ The tension is truly building, there's so many things still to know about Emily and what happened to her. I kinda hope Rebecca and Avery will get along, just because I feel like she would be the only one who could treat her for who she is.

Gosh those brothers are just something else. Xander is really just a kid all the time, Jameson is the definition of an adventure, Nash is basically a bad boy you just have to simp for, and Grayson, I guess he is a mystery? Like that guy you are just tempted to know more about as well.

One truth two lies shook me, like oh damn, I need the answers right now.

Also for middle names- First two (like the two they discovered) sounded like places, but not the other two, so I'm interested to find out if they do indeed represent places. (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[ So many things went down I don't even know if I remember everything right now. Avery being shot at, Drake's involvement in everything, the whole kiss with Jameson thing- damn.
I mean I still feel like Jameson is the definition of adventure, but I feel like he hasn't gotten over Emily and he just isn't letting himself feel again, so he's treating the whole thing as a game, and I guess as Nash (I believe it was Nash xd) said, he's seeing Avery just as some kind of knife, prima balerina,.. basically something he needs to solve the puzzle.
I'm not gonna lie, I haven't been a fan of Avery lately. She's just- idk, she seems naïve in a way, to trusting and it's just not likeable. But I get that she's going through so much, so that should be understandable. I'm kinda afraid she's trusting Libby to easily, because I'm really failing to think of anyone else who would let Drake on the premises.
But I guess he could partner to someone he hasn't known before this whole ordeal, so I'm open to those chances as well.

What are your thoughts on it? I'll probably finish the book today, because I have some waiting time ahead, so I'll have plenty of time.

I still like Avery, she seems believable to me with wanting to trust people and staying loyal to Libby.

I loved the final twist because I genuinely didn't expect for things to turn out the way they did.
