SOLVED. Sci-fi: Humans trapped on spaceship [s]

I thought this was part of a 3 book series. I read the first two books and was waiting on the 3rd but then forgot about all 3!

Probably read between 2007-2016 it was a book that was published in this time frame. Science fiction book about a group of strangers, humans, who somehow wind up on a space ship or a space ship that resembles an asteroid.
The spaceship has biomes/a jungle inside of it where the humans split off into groups and inhabit the jungle. I feel like there might have been a temple inside the jungle?Humans learn to live on ship and eventually discover a honeycomb type of structure with larvae in suspended animation?
One of the covers had a view of space, no stars, just black with a blue planet.

The Heaven's Shadow series by David S. Goyer, maybe? Heaven's War sounds closest to your memory of the plot.
