SCI-FI: This book was described to me by my mother, it was probably written and published between the 1970's and 1980's (that's when she acquired it). The story is that a planet is dying or being destroyed and this couple, that has high compatibility to procreate, is sent to earth. Before leaving the origin planet, the female alien's partner kills the male alien who was selected and enter the spaceship in his place without her knowing. They arrive in either north or south pole and freeze. The spaceship is later found and they are taken to different places. The guy tries to find his girlfriend, but she keeps running/hiding from him because she thinks it's the other guy.
My mother seems to things that the male character's name is something like Colban, or Corban.
