Hello All,I should confess upfront that, although I love to cook, I am a terrible baker. Except for bread but you don't need a whisk for that!
I've put a couple of books on the planning tab:
To Night Owl from Dogfish
which is probably most useful as a yellow coverand
The Devil's Cave which is set in France but fulfils a fair few other prompts as well.
Good morning Whisk team! I'm excited to get going on this readathon, and yes, it's going to make me hungry! I am doing several challenges this year so my list of books is not very flexible, but I'm hoping to get through several this week. I love those Bruno books Joyce - that will make you hungry too! Happy reading everyone...
Hi everyone! The books I'm currently reading are The Magus, Project Hail Mary, and Exodus. I'll have to have a better look and prompts to decide on my other to-reads!
Hi all,I'm in Australia so it's Saturday here already....I'm listening to The Second Chance Supper Club
fits for:
* A book with red on the cover
* A book used for the 2022 ATY Reading Challenge
* A book by a new-to-you author
* A book where food plays an important role
and reading Reminders of Him
Fits for:
* The newest book by an author you've already read
* A book used for the 2022 ATY Reading Challenge
Hi team. It's Saturday morning here in Norway. I am reading The King of Koraha. Ita can be used forThe newest book by an author you've already read, A book used for the 2022 ATY Reading Challenge, The next book in a series, A long book

Hi Bec, I am also in Australia (Perth). If you add your books to the planning page on the spreadsheet you can mark where each might fit. If you're not sure how to do this just let me know...

Hi Ira, welcome! You can add your books to the planning page of the spreadsheet - let me know if you're not sure how to do this
Good morning to some and Good Evening to others,I've finished To Night Owl From Dogfish which I've provisionally entered for a yellow cover. Much of the rest of the day will have to go on mending fences, in the literal sense, after yesterday's gales.
I tried having a little look for books to fill prompts that have no options so far. I have a couple of covers where people are looking for shells
but none where they actually find them!I also have nothing for a flavoursome word in the title although I was slighly tempted by By Night the Mountain Burns. If it said 'burnt', and with my baking record, I definitely would use it.
Hey team, slow to get online today but having a lovely day offline reading and relaxing after a crazy week. I added my current books to the spreadsheet. Looks like we have a great start.Loving the challenge, GBBO is a favorite!!

Ha! Ha! You made me laugh! 😂
I admit to being blown away by these prompts! Wow. I'm sure once I reread them I'll not feel quite so intimidated... But it looks as if others are way ahead of me! LOL I'll have to see where the following books will fit since I purposefully left at least 100 pages to read in each, planning to finish them this weekend. I hope I can fit them in somewhere...
So You Want to Talk About Race by Ijeoma Oluo
Get a Life, Chloe Brown (Brown Sisters #1) by Talia Hibbert
Raybearer (Raybearer #1) by Jordan Ifueko
Now...to the spreadsheet!
Ooohhh! Ooohhh!! I'm so excited! I just looked more closely at the cover of
and noticed there is a shell on her forehead, meant to be a part of her hair weaving or headdress, I assume... COOL!!
Sarah wrote: "Hi team! I feel like this theme is going to make me hungry for cake all week :D"I hear ya! I've been meaning to bake some cookies for a week now. I'll bet I have to get that done this weekend now! LOL
And...in searching for a shorter book to read this week that I just want to read, I discovered that The Chase is SET IN ITALY! I had no idea!
I also just began reading a short story collection that is less than 250 pages long!Back to reading! I've added the first five books to the planning spreadsheet. Can't wait to finish one and enter it!
I think the Madeleine prompt may be the most challenging.I can highly recommend both of Madeline Miller's books: The Song of Achilles and Circe, as I enjoyed both.
Obviously, there is Madeleine L'Engle.
Another is Madeleine Wickham who writes mainly romance. I have read one of her books, Cocktails for Three, and really enjoyed it. She also publishes under the pseudonym Sophie Kinsella and I assume any of those books would also fulfill this prompt, but I have asked that specific question in the Intro/FAQ thread and will post the answer here.
Madeleine Henry has written two romance novels.
Madeleine K. Albright, former Secretary of State, has published quite a few books.
Madeleine St. John was an Aussie! I have added The Women in Black to my TBR recently.
Madeleine George is a playwright and has published two YA novels.
Madeleine Brent is a pseudonym used by Peter O'Donnell. He published romance novels using that name... Under his own name he published a mystery series, Modesty Blaise listed as "sequential art/comics."
There are a ton more Madeleine/Madeline/etc. authors. If you just go to the book/author search above and select author and type in either of these first names, you'll get a bunch! There are also a lot listed using the first name "Maddy" and "Maddie."
So many more than I thought there would be! Okay, back to reading! LOL
Emily answered: A pseudonym of Madeleine and/or a pseudonym for an author named Madeleine would fulfill this prompt! Also, eggs can be counted as "shells"!
And Aimee posted a Listopia for books with shells on the cover:
https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/8... in the Intro/FAQ thread.
@Lynn, thanks for the great research! Fabulous that you already have a shell on the cover sorted.Just finished Hunting Ground. It fit a few tasks but none of the difficult ones. Unfortunately between the library and other time sensitive challenges, I don't have much flexibility with my book options but will do my best to match them and get some sprinkles.
How does one colour a whole row green on the planning page? I'm sure there must be a shortcut - I gave up doing it one square at a time before I was the whole way across.
Got it! Just highlight all the cells across that you want coloured and then choose the colour. You can highlight across with by holding down the button on the mouse or holding the "ctrl" key while clicking on the cells.
I pencilled in An Offer from a Gentleman for smiling person but feel free to move it if needed. I don't think I have any Madeleine books to read but I'll check
Wow, great work everyone! I have also had a look at the more difficult prompts and found an audiobook Salt: Selected Stories and Essays, that I should be able to start tomorrow. I also have a Madeleine L'Engle ebook A Wrinkle in Time, but need to read a couple of other books before I can get to that one.
My suggestion is that we code our completed books in whichever prompt has the least number of options that fit - as the week goes on it will become more difficult, but we just do our best!
Hi all! I've been away for the weekend (it's Sunday afternoon here in Australia)! I have a copy of Rosaline Palmer Takes the Cake that's due back at the library soonish, so I'll definitely be prioritising that one this week, given the theme.
Jen K wrote: "Got it! Just highlight all the cells across that you want coloured and then choose the colour. “Thanks, I knew I was missing something.
Do people think The Various Flavours Of Coffee would count for the ‘flavour word’ prompt?

"
I would think so given in the main ATY we can count the word 'time' for a word related to time.
I've finished The Devil's Cave and marked it as set in France. You know Sue, I wouldn't care if Bruno never caught another criminal as long as I can join him for dinner and hear how his dog is doing.I've started With the Fire on High where food is definitely important and there is also red on the cover. I suspect it will fill some other prompts but need to read it to find out.
Finished On the Beach and added it as a place I would like to visit. Someday I will make it to Australia and hopefully it won't be the end of the world like this book. Lots of tears for this ending. Feel free to move any of my book allocations!
I was in a historical romance mood so I read Behind These Doors by Jude Lucens. I've put it down for black and white on cover but happy to shuffle as we all read more books.
I've finished With the Fire on High and added it under special meal. We are well on our way to some focaccia.I'm planning Conundrum by Jan Morris next which has black and white circles on the cover although that edition doesn't seem to be on Goodreads.
I have just finished The Wild Silence and have added it as a book mostly set in the wilderness. We are going so well, but now that the weekend is over I guess many of us will be busier... I am starting a new audiobook today, Salt: Selected Stories and Essayswhich I can listen to while grouting a mosaic, and will continue with my paperback when I get the chance. It has most of a circle on the cover, and also some red -
Good morning! I'm should be able to finish another book tonight but then it will be slower reading this week with work. I've been painfully averaging 10-12 hour workdays. We are making great progress!
Hi team. I dissapeared a bit this weekend, because things suddenly got busy. I did manage to read a bit and listen to a bit of audiobook. Should be finished with my book today and start a new one.
Kahlia wrote: "I was in a historical romance mood so I read Behind These Doors by Jude Lucens. I have also added it on the Plans page of the spreadsheet (down the bottom on the right hand side). If you put your books there while you are reading them, you can see what others are planning to read, and which prompts have most options. I also highlighted the prompt on that page so everyone can see that it is filled. Thank goodness I don't work 12 hour days any more - good luck for this week!
I’ve finished Reminders of Him - man it gave me all the feels! I can’t update the spreadsheet until the morning as I’m on my phone but thought I would let you know. I thinkIt only fits for book read for the ATY challenge.
I ended up helping a friend yesterday, so had less reading time this weekend than planned. However, I have finished Raybearer and will count it for the Shell prompt. Cowrie shells proved to be a very important part of the story as well! I probably won't read any more of Ifueko's writing. At least this book just didn't work very well for me. I will finish Get a Life, Chloe Brown and So You Want to Talk About Race tonight. And should finish The Chase and Granta 148: Summer Fiction during the week this week.
I did pull a 500+ page mystery, Back Bay that should read fast for next weekend.
I'll record my pages read, etc later today. Sorry...
Anyone had any luck with Madeleine prompt?
Lynn wrote: "I ended up helping a friend yesterday, so had less reading time this weekend than planned. However, I have finished Raybearer and will count it for the Shell prompt. Cowrie shells p..."Wow Lynn, you are getting through a lot - don't forget to add your pages to the Sprinkles Tracking tab!
Yes, I do have a Madeleine book which I should be able to get to by the weekend, but it's probably not one I would otherwise read, so if someone else comes up with one, go for it!
Jen K wrote: "Good morning! I'm should be able to finish another book tonight but then it will be slower reading this week with work. I've been painfully averaging 10-12 hour workdays. We are making great progress!"Those are VERY long workdays!!

I had a look for Madelines on archive.org - they seem to write an awful lot of soft porn. Who knew?! However, I do now have a book by Maddie Dawson which I am happy to start next.
Joyce wrote: "I had a look for Madelines on archive.org - they seem to write an awful lot of soft porn. Who knew?! However, I do now have a book by Maddie Dawson which I am happy to start next."Whoo! Whoo! GREAT!
Hi everyone, I've been volunteered to work away for three days this week so I'm not sure how it is going to eat into my reading time. At least I have along train journey there and back to get some pages in
I've just started The Embroidered Book by Kate Heartfield which will count for multiple squares: long book, set in France, circles on cover, new to you author and place you'd like to visit.
I've finished Conundrum and entered it for circles. Feel free to move it Sue if you want to put The Vagrants there instead. We are one prompt away from a mini roll!
Hi All, I had a look at what the other teams are doing to try and simplify the spreadsheet, and have moved the completed books to a new page. I hope I haven't mucked it up as I think someone was typing while I was! Please let me know if I have confused you.We are very close to completing a couple of our recipes and have already earned 7 Sprinkles of Sprinkles - go team!
Just slot your books in wherever you think best - if someone else has the same, we can start on a second serve of that recipe. Has anyone actually attempted any of the real recipes yet? (they look a bit too complicated for me...)
Good news: getting my new kitchen finally installed!Bad news: less reading time. Still trying my best to get those pages, though!

It's time to fill your bakery case with goodies. You will read books to bake sweets and pastries! Each pastry takes a different number of books, depending on complexity.
You can bake your pastries in any order that you'd like, and you can bake multiple pastries at once (infinite oven space!). Don't forget about your sprinkles! You get some for every 1000 pages read (or 10 hours of audio listed to).
You'll want to create the best bakery case that you can bake, so make sure you have at least one of every type of goodie... they are all important to your score! You can have multiples of the same types of pastries as well.
