Traveller (moontravlr) | 216 comments From Sunday Feb 20 – Sunday Feb 27 we will read the entirety of PLACE-NAMES • THE NAME, and have our ending discussion.

And voilà! We have read Le Recherche Du Temps Perdu Vol.1 !
So what did you guys think of volume 1?

People have asked about which translation of the next volume would be good.

Ellie, since you liked the Davis translation, which is a more modern and more American translation, you might also like the Grieve translation, which is the second volume in the newest Penguin translation of Proust.
However, after reading a few reviews, it has come to my attention that many people don't actually like the Grieve translation, with criticism ranging from "too stilted" to "too silly".
There seems to be a general consensus that the Modern Library translation is the best one. I haven't read it myself, but I guess that's the one I'd also be reading.

Nidhi Kumari I finished Swann’s Way . I enjoyed the book very much, rated it 5 stars. I will definitely read it again sometime, there are many images I would like to read again and again like the image of a woman looking out of the window of her cottage to the travellers. And the description of the park way and the river.

I am excited to know about the next book, which I will begin today.
