I really enjoyed this book! It not only provided authentic detail on what it's like to be a Muslim, but also to be desi
I loved it! it was so witty and hilarious. I loved Khaled's character, Ayesha not so much but they were great together. And I agree that all the little cultural details really made it feel real - and gave me a craving for chai - I literally made some straight after I finished the book! We need more good desi rep in YA.
Oh I didn't realise it wasn't YA I just assumed for some reason lol. Probably because I'm so used to seeing a lot of explicit stuff in adult books, it was great to have a clean romance for a change!Yes we need more. I especially want to find a book similar to this but about practising Muslim Bengali girls!
Ooh yes!I know the MC in counting down with you is Bengali, but I’m 99% sure I heard people saying the rep was terrible
yeah I've heard nothing good about that book, from the terrible Muslim rep to the lacking and generic Bengali culture portrayal. The second thing disappoints me most because we have such a beautiful and unique culture, and a good author could spin something really special with it.
