AnnalissaPrice I remember reading a historical romance book a few years ago about a woman that was always sick (I think she had a lot of allergies or something) and she begged her father to let her sail to tropical islands with a captain she met and he lets her. She is concidered not attractive and not marriage material by the society becase of her looks and her fashion style. She goes to sea with this captain who she finds ot is actually a pirate that was once a nobleman. They start sleeping together in the course of the travel. I think he lets her wear men's clothes and teaches her about a pirate's life. When they come to the tropical islands, they stay with his friends in a lavish house and then they part ways because she has to go back. When she comes back with tan skin, cured allergies, newfound confidence and a bit of exoticness. She suddenly has a bunch of suiters but she's still in love with the pirate. There is a disctinctive scene in a ballroom after she learned that the pirate (the captain) was killed and i think she realized she was pregnant with his baby, and she is surrounded by suitors when he showes up as the nobleman he was before and they marry.

Glad you found your book, AnnalissaPrice.

Please note that you must add genre and plot details to the header/ topic title "what is the name...". Just copy from what you've already written in the first comment. Requests with vague headers are closed because this group is so large.
