The Summer is Ended and We Are Not Yet Saved by Joey Comeau is about a teen boy whose mom is a makeup artist working on a horror movie set. He doesn't accompany her to the set, but he does get letters from his mother while he is at Bible Camp.
No. I’m pretty sure the protagonist was a girl .
Was the girl definitely high school age?
I’m not sure. I think she was a teenager because she followed her mother to her job in the movie set, but I’m not sure :(

Trying to remember the title of a book that was published few years ago. It’s a thriller about a girl who accompanied her mother to her job as a makeup artist at the set of a horror film. Th book might be a YA and there might be a slasher in it .
