Derrick saw her jump off and froze. He stood near the edge, taking a shaky breath.

Derrick nodded. He stayed where he was. He wasn't sure why he was so afraid of the cliff.

"Derrick?" She sighed and jumped up next to him. "Look theirs another wall a few feet down, you won't fall down."She pointed to the cliff.

Derrick nodded. He slowly walked toward the edge of the cliff.

"See I promise I won't let you fall." She grabbed his hand and pulled him towards the edge.

Derrick let her lead him. He didn't understand why he was so afraid.

She faced him and gently stepped onto the path below. "Hey, eyes on me," She looked at him.

Derrick kept his eyes on her. He carefully hopped down onto the path, still watching her.

She knew her way well. Backwards she led him down the cliff, her eyes never leaving his.

Derrick kept his eyes on her, following her down. He bit his lip nervously.

She gently pulled him into her secret cave. She didn't look away from his eyes. "Beautiful isn't it?" She said but she knew what it looked like, she stared at it for hours on end. The glistening walls filled with color and the small pool at the bottom. It's water clear. She couldn't look away. Her hand was still latched with his.

Derrick looked around. He nodded, "yeah. It is beautiful here."

She looked up at him. "What's wrong" she said quietly.

"Nothing. I'm okay." Derrick replied. He still didn't know why he was afraid of the cliff.

"Yes there is please tell me, fear is the only thing stoping us from sharing our secrets." She sighed "so what are you afraid of?"

"I don't know. I saw the cliff and I panicked. I don't know why.." Derrick said softly

She came to the realization that it could have been his associated with his death. "We all have to be afraid of something,"

[Fallen]

"I know. But I wasn't afraid of cliffs earlier..." Derrick sighed Softly.

She gave a half smile. "Sometimes we don't know we've had a fear until be confront it,"

"No. I've sat right near the edge of a cliff before and not been afraid at all..." Derrick glared at the wall, frustrated.

((Derrick's Backstory:
Normal life, blah blah blah. Had a twin sister, Kearin (Key-air-an). His sister had forced him to go with her to a party at the cliffs. A troubled guy, Kearin's ex boyfriend showed up, set on revenge. He had a gun.... Derrick noticed the guy. He saw the guy take out the gun and aim it at Kearin. He didn't think about himself. He shouted at Kearin to get back, to get away while he moved so he was standing in front of her, protecting her. Kearin tried to run, to get away and the guy aimed the gun at her. Derrick jumped at him, wanting to keep her safe. Him and the guy fought for the gun, Derrick pulling the guy closer to the cliff. He saw his sister get into their car and start it, he knew she would be safe. Derrick let his guard down for a second, long enough for the guy to get the gun. The guy aimed the gun at Derrick and fired. The shot didn't immediately kill him, but Derrick stumbled backwards, slipping on the edge of the cliff. He fell and was dead from the shot before he hit the water. ))

Raina stared at him "Hey you can get through this. We can get through it." She gently squeezed his hand.

Derrick nodded, looking at her again. "I know.." He squeezed her hand.

Please don't let him die. Please, she thought. She reached up and turned his head so he was looking at her. "I will help you, until the end ok?" She didn't want to think the end was soon even as she knew it was going to be. It couldn't be.

"Okay." Derrick said softly. He looked at her.

She wanted so badly to tell him about the Shadowlands. She couldn't send him there. She couldn't do that to him. A frustrated tear ran down her cheek.

Derrick noticed the tear and gently wiped it away with his thumb. "What's wrong?" He asked softly, hoping he hadn't made her upset.

Derrick sighed softly but didn't try to force her to answer.

She wanted to reply badly. She knew she couldn't, "I'm sorry," she whispered. She squeezed his hand tighter.

"It's okay. You don't have to be sorry." Derrick told her. He pulled her into a gentle hug.

She put her head against his shoulder. Her arms wrapped around his back. Hugging him back. Her eyes fluttered close.

Derrick didn't let go of her. He gently swayed back and forth.
