Things worsen with Rachel after it becomes clear that Jason Lopez is spying on Lucy and she discovers the tracker on her car. Then Rachel refuses to support a bureau sanctioned operation because Rick Stockton assigned Lucy without her input. Everything we’d learned about her prior to being assigned to San Antonio was all positive. Your thoughts about her actions, her misgivings and distrust of Lucy, what she did right and alternative ways she could have handled the whole situation?

Anita (anitanodiva) | 2953 comments I was livid that Rachel would go so far as to put a tracker on Lucy's car. I thought Lucy's response was restrained, to say the least. When Rachel refused to let Lucy use bureau assets for the task force, I thought that was not only petty but dangerous. Lucy had earned the distrust and had the extra scrutiny coming, no doubt about that, but it was really bad for Rachel to basically hang Lucy out without any backup from the FBI except her spy, Jason.

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3474 comments I agree with Anita. Also, I had the impression that Rachel worried that Lucy was gunning for her job before they even met. Instead of mentoring Lucy she became very petty. If Lucy was killed or injured because of Rachel's decisions, that would be a lot to live with going forward.

Honestly, with Rachel putting the tracker on Lucy's car and having Jason spy and track her, Lucy could have opened an investigation with HR for a hostel work place. I believe Lucy would have won.

Robin (robinmy) | 2450 comments The whole situation and the way it was handled by Rachel upset me. As I said previously, she was way over the top in the way she handled Lucy.

Sharon, I was also thinking about the possibility of Lucy contacting the people above her about a hostel work place.

Ditto everything Anita said. Rachel was so far out of bounds she would have lost her job, let alone being reassigned to Alaska if this was made known.

With what happened with Rick Stockton, her beef should have been with him. You never punch down as a manager, which is what she did. Then, to involve other of Lucy’s peers in her shenanigans was just an even lower point. I was incensed.

She’s lucky Sean didn’t report her for tracking her car. I admire Lucy for trying to handle this on her own but it soon became obvious to lots of others that Rachel was a problem. I especially liked the conversation Brad Donnelly had with Rachel. He was one of her fans and ended up walking away from her.

This was as bad as it gets in the workplace.

Lucy for sure had an actionable complaint. There is no doubt she would have won her case, but Lucy didn't want to take it in that direction. She weighed the consequences, being reassigned, giving others in the office more to gossip about, and decided to wait it out. I'm glad Rachel finally came around, but she definitely took things way too far.

Melissa (melissasd) | 676 comments Rachel was way out of line by putting a tracker on Lucy's car. Rachel almost seems threatened by Lucy, even though Lucy has tried so hard to make things right.
I agree with Anita, it was dangerous to refuse Lucy bureau assets. I also would think that that would look bad to other FBI offices.

And it was Sean’s car, making her actions even worse.
