Lucy was doing her best to keep her head down, like everyone told her to do. I understand Rachel having misgivings about Lucy. Her files were heavily redacted and classified and she had friends in very high places. There was not a lot for Rachel to go on and right off the bat, Lucy lies to her about San Diego. That was three strikes against Lucy already and Rachel didn't even know the half of what had happened.
I understood Rachel's misgivings, but the way she handled it was out of line. It didn't give me good feelings about her management skills especially when she left Lucy without backup. The punishment in the beginning was OK, but she wouldn't give Lucy a break. I don't know any manager who loves every person on the team. A good manager knows how to put some personality difference aside and work with what the staff members bring to the team..
I agree with both of you. It was understandable that Rachel would have be wary of Lucy working under her, especially after she caught Lucy in a lie about her time in San Diego. But Rachel was way over the top in her actions. A supervisor does not put a tracker on an employee's personal vehicle. I couldn't believe she did that.
In the beginning, I understood Rachel’s misgivings about Lucy and thought she needed time to assess for herself. Lucy was managing the situation perfectly, keeping her head down and not complaining about the abysmal assignments. She did everything right.
I did understand Rachel's thinking. She was new and didn't want everyone walking all over her thanks to Lucy's behavior.
