madrano | 23684 comments Dru, thank you for the series information. I've not heard of them but like the idea of telling those stories. Kudos to Reynolds.

I've wondering if you've read the other books in the Musketeer series? I didn't realize it was a series until a few years ago. Given the paragraph Jennifer shared, i wonder if anyone reads them all!

Regardless, i think it's wonderful that you continue to enjoy the book. It must bring you both memories of you life, as well of the plotting and exploits from the book. What a treasure.

Jennifer (jhaltenburger) I've read several of them, plus other Dumas as well. I especially liked his Queen Margot, or Marguerite de Valois (The Last Valois, #1) by Alexandre Dumas .

If you want a modern sci-fi /fantasy twist on the Musketeers, read Stephen Brust's modern take on the series starting with The Phoenix Guards (Khaavren Romances, #1) by Steven Brust . You can also try The Baron of Magister Valley by Steven Brust which is an homage to "The Count of Monte Cristo."

madrano | 23684 comments How neat, Jennifer. I like when our contemporary authors give updated renditions on classics. It has us considering what we understood previously and what we may have missed. I appreciate the tips on titles.

Jennifer (jhaltenburger) I just read a re-imagination of Sense and Sensibility that was quite good, if you’re interested: Ladies of the House: A Modern Retelling of Sense and Sensibility

madrano | 23684 comments It's good to know you liked this, Jennifer. If i relied on the GR reviews, i'd be torn, as they are quite mixed! Thank you for sharing.
