I read this book or part of it probably back in 2014/2015. The protagonist is a single mom living with her daughter. Society on earth has been taken over or infiltrated by an alien race. In my memory the alien race has blue skin but that might be wrong. One evening, there is an injured alien man in their neighborhood and the mother reluctantly takes him in and nurses him back to health. She keeps him inside secretly as the alien race is hated among the locals. The town or community itself is isolated and ruled in a very legalistic way - the community members have to listen to a self proclaimed prophet preach for hours on end. At some point, the alien has regained his strength and needs to return to his ship - the mother helps him escape the community secretly and at some point ends up in the ship with him…where she finds out he’s actually a prince or king of the alien race.

That’s all I remember. I’ve tried googling for years with no results! There are lots of stories about blue skinned aliens so hard to weed through all of them. Can’t find it in my kindle history either!
