Although this is in a format I love, it is written as a timelines set to pictures. The book jumps around from person to person and group to group, so the reader never attaches to the story. It is a dry history lesson in a comic format which makes it boring with pictures. This book could have been so much more and connected students who know little about this event, but it fails. The best part of it is the afterword.
I never got into this one. I don't remember much about what happened at Ground Zero after 9/11, but I still don't feel I know much. The book almost tried to cover too much rather than focusing on a few key details and going deep.

Whoa! I am not a graphic novel reader, but this one kept me engaged from start to finish! I liked the way it focused on little known facts for most people. The people who escaped over the railings of the bridge onto boats below to escape all the fire, dust, and debris, the Marines that were home and put on their uniforms in order to sneak in and help with the search, and the firefighters who kept going in spite of being called to stop. This may have contained a lot, but it captured the terror, yet love, dedication, and compassion of the American people in their finest hour. I think it's time to to revisit that for many. The fact that it is written by a journalist makes it all the better. That's what provided many of the facts that I had not known prior. I loved the art work that uses the soft colors and maintains almost a dusty atmosphere to capture the event. One of the best graphics I have ever read! 5.5
