This story arc feels totally like the first story arc from the first 9 or so books in the series. So while that's mildly disappointing, I do love this world that Zanetti has built and the characters. For this particular story, I liked the softer side of Sam and the banter between him and Honor was fun. Things are coming to a head in the larger story arc, so I am looking forward to how things play out with Hope. And Garret because we've seen him grown up in the series so he's definitely a favorite!

There are a lot of shifter books/packs out there but for some reason I love this pack! I think it is the trifecta of the alpha wolves that snagged me.
This is the 3rd installment in Midnight Pack series and focuses on Cormac the alpha of the pack. His twin brothers, Shaun and Decaon, have large parts in the story as well. (They are also alphas but they serve as their brother's betas in this pack....thus the trifecta.)
Cormac/Mac became alpha of the Midnight pack at age 15 after a tragedy befalls his family and the family of close friends. Since that time he has felt a connection to something or someone but has never been able to touch that connection, so he pushes it back and learns to live with it. Until he rescues a young girl that is running from the local Hunter sect. His debate is whether he can trust her or if she has been sent by the Hunters to do finally take down the pack.... Mac knows who she is and he plans to protect her no matter what.
"I'm the alpha of this Pack, Ava. I'm demanding, controlling, domineering. I have to work at being gentle. It's not in my nature."
"I know what your nature is. You don't scare me."
"Oh, but I should."
Lots going on in this installment, but I can't tell you more without giving away anything! I will say that the series has used the "damaged female" character in every book, so far. (only 1 left to finish the series). There are brutal scenes for both male and females. If you know that going in and it isn't something that bothers you, I think you will enjoy this series.

"Rosie!"
First of all, why has this book been on my bookshelf forever and a day and I haven't read it?
Rose and her family live in the Edge, a world between the Broken ("normal reality") and the Weird (a magical world). Rose's magic brought her to the attention of the blue bloods in the Weird when she was a teen. Now she lives in constant vigilance to protect herself and her little brothers.
I loved getting to know all the characters. Rose's brothers, Jack and Georgie, were adorable. I listened to the audiobook and the narrator did a great job with their voices and personalities. Declan, the blue blood, is amazing. I think I have a new book boyfriend. William intrigued me and the revelation of his past made him an integral part of the story.
This book had magic, battles, snark, and romance. Every chapter brought something new to the story. I loved Rose's strength and integrity. Declan is regal, often haughty, but he softens to a more human man with the boys and Rose.
I loved when Declan followed Rose into the Broken. His Carolina Panther hat made me smile as that is my local football team. (Not a football fan but having a bit of a shoutout to my city made me happy.)
I had a hard time putting this down. I did switch back and forth between audio and the book so that I didn't miss any opportunity to continue. I have the next book on my shelf and hope to read it soon.
Excellent book by one of my favorite writing teams. I highly recommend it.

Great reviews, ladies!
LaurLa, Garrett’s a fave of mine too. I’m so anxious for his book later this year. And, the Hope/gang storyline is keeping me on the edge … I gotta know how it’s all gonna go!
Angie, that’s another one I grabbed as an Amazon freebie a while back, I’ll have to check it out.
Cheryl, I can’t believe this is your first trip to the Edge. So glad you enjoyed it! I listened to the audiobooks when we were moving to Australia. Every time I see that book/series I’m taken back to that time 😊

I really enjoyed it, and then I re-read #2 just cause I wanted more of Havana, Aspen & Bailey :D

Yep! Can't wait for a book about Bailey.
Looks like the next one will be Luke.

My Review:
“Why? Why would you want to help?”One of my favorite aspects of this installment was learning more about the strong, long-lived friendship between Aspen and Camden. We'd read about the ways their close friendship lead to jealousy in their individual dating lives; we'd seen how they were always there for one another, no matter the situation; and, recently, we'd watched Aspen begin to reevaluate the depth of her feelings.
Aspen rolled her eyes. “Because that’s what friends do, silly. And I’ve decided you’re going to be mine.”
... “friend” was too tame a word to describe what Aspen was to him. She was his one constant. She kept him sane. Centered. Anchored. For Camden, she was the person in his life. Now, we get the back story - how they met as children in Corbin's home, what happened in their lives to make them relate to each other so strongly and how Camden's life pre-Aspen lead him to being so closed off with everyone but her.
Aspen sighed. “Were you even listening?”My other favorite part is the relationship between Aspen, Bailey and Havana. Damn but these girls are hilarious! Especially Bailey, and most especially when she's off on a random tangent and/or when her snake battling it out with Aspen's bearcat. They crack me up! I am anxious for Bailey's book, which I hope is soon. It's sure to be full of laughs.
“Not really. I was wondering what the first person who milked an animal was actually attempting to do.”

Lol! I did a blind date with a book from the library. I was convinced it was a Darynda Jones book from the description. It wasn’t so now I’m in the mood for Charley Davidson.

I gave a rating of 4 stars because GR doesn't do half stars and I like it more as 4 than 3... The main problem I had was it felt a little too long, at times it seemed to drag a little too much. Looking back, I asked what could have left out? Well, now I don't know but it could have moved faster! Other than that, I enjoyed the progression of Roke's feelings and the by-play between him and Sally. Levet always brings fun into the mix and it was also good to see the Anasso again - I just love imagining his badass-ery with that long braid! So good story, maybe a bit long. No new major arch-enemies surfaced so not sure where the next book will go. Well, I do know but no continuing enemy story arc I mean :-)

My Review:
IF YOUR BEHAVIOR ATTRACTS ATTENTION, YOU HAVE TO EXPLAIN THAT BEHAVIOR TO SOMEONE WHO MIGHT EAT YOU. GOOD LUCK.Man, has it really been three years since I've spent time with The Others?! Regardless of how much time passes between books in this series/same world spin-off, I always enjoy my time there. Some stories are more enjoyable than others, but every time it's fun reuniting with this unique world and mixture of humans, elementals, others and elders. And, in all of them, I'm continually amazed by the utter stupidity of (some) humans, especially after the events of Wild Country, and their irrational belief that they -somehow- are smarter than what will hunt and kill them if/when they step out of line.
These people were too cavalier about staying in a terra indigene settlement. They were treating this whole thing like being in a fun house at a county fair. The scary stuff ended when you walked out the door and nothing could really hurt you. Here the deadly began when a person walked out the door.Trickster Night brings more than a fright to those vacationing at Vicki's Jumble and the village of Sproing, a small human community near Lake Silence. Vicki was introduced in Lake Silence. Since then, with the help of her friends, she's realizing her strength (sand) and, as Reader, is an important member of the community, one all will fight to protect.

The silver bell above the door chimed, a soft sound that complemented the singing coming from the cafe's small kitchen.
Lizzie Grace and her familiar Belle have opened a cafe in a werewolf reservation that offerings charms and potions. The reservation has banned witches and Lizzie is trying to fly under the radar until a woman asks her to help find her daughter.
So, this is another series that I had let slide for a number of years. I'm glad I finally starting reading it. I loved Lizzie! She was born to blue blood witches but didn't meet their standards. She and Belle have been on the run for a dozen years after painful events from her past.
Ranger Aiden O'Connor has a very poor opinion of witches. Finding Lizzie standing over a young girl's body does not bode well. I really enjoyed the interaction between Lizzie and Aiden. Even with his prejudices, he still gave Lizzie the benefit of the doubt after she proved herself.
The classic good vs evil showdown was well done. Lizzie taps into more than her personal magic to fight against the powerful vampire.
There are lots of tense moments that kept me turning the pages. I would love to visit the cafe to try Belle's lovely creations.
I look forward to reading more to see if more information is provided about the reservations banned witch. He seems to be still around and welding some degree of magic over the area.

Glad you liked Lizzie, Cheryl. I love that series. It keeps getting better with each book 😊

This installment of the series felt disjointed to me. Maybe I waited too long to read this one after the first two. It seems to take a long time to get to the main story and there were lots of sub plots that seemed to be just random information with little bearing on the story. There were some aspects that I did ejoy and I still want to read the last book and see how the series wraps up.

Series keeps getting stranger and stranger and it's darker than I usually like to read but something about Anita keeps me coming back. Although there was a point during this one where I felt she fell into a trap way to easily for her personality. I thought the author could have done a better job of her being trick because if I can pick up on it, well it must be a bad trick. Anyway, I was surprised by the ending but not with Anita actually following through on her plans for Jean-Claude even though they didn't really pan out the way she expected. I can't decide if I want her to give in or not...
