Per policy, series information should not be removed from the title field. If the information is wrong, it should be corrected.

From The Librarian Manual:

The title field is used for the title of the book and for the subtitle if the book has one. Other information, such as binding, edition number, or language, should be moved out of the title field into fields specific to that information. Series information may also be included in the title field. This is optional, but if series information is included, it should follow standard formatting. (See below.) If correct series information has been added to the title field, do not remove it from the book record – the more complete the book data, the better.
