I talked to him just now. He doesn't sound really happy, but will definately be there through the weekend, so I have a day or two before leaving. Which is good since yesterday consisted of Monday, all day long. Meaning that I accomplished zip. Today wasn't much better.

After Monday and Tuesday, even the calendar say WTF. And it's that kind of week!

Jamie ~ Bad Boy Inspector (jamie_badboyinspector) | 68 comments Week 2

Shelf - Demons
Read - 2/26/15

Book - Jacob (Nightwalkers, #1) by Jacquelyn Frank Jacob by Jacquelyn Frank
Rating - 4 1/2 Stars

I am not sure why I waited so long to pick up this series. I am so glad I finally did though because it reminded me why I love PNR so much. Frank done a great job weaving world building, amazing characters and entertaining storytelling into this wonderful book. Bella has got to be one of my favorite Heroines in a LONG time. She is spunky, funny and takes no crap for anyone. Jacob is a great Alpha male with a big old soft heart and I couldn't get enough of them. I also loved how the story set up for the next book and I can't wait to read more from this world. I will definitely be adding Jacquelyn Frank to my Authors radar from now on.

I enjoyed this . Sorry that it was the last in the series. Georgina was up to her usual tricks. The story was a bit sad in terms of who her friends weren't, but a major happy ending was nice.

A nice, light read. I liked this whole series.

Review: This book opened up with a bang and never let up. Lon and Cady are fighting for their lives against a demon knack that is above and beyond anything they have ever seen before; while at the same time discovering more about Cady's ever increasing powers. This third book in the series is just another great continuation of the characters and storyline from the first two. Lon and Cady's relationship continues to grow and strengthen. (It is great to see such a mature, honest, and caring couple for a change). Lon's son Jupe is his ever lovable, quirky self again in this story, and it is wonderful to see his bond with Cady growing. He brings out her maternal instincts for sure, and they have a very caring relationship. We also get to meet more of the family (Lon's mother-in-law Rose, sister-in-law Adella, and Jupe's mother Yvonne) and learn a little more about the family dynamics. The best part of this story for me was discovering along with Cady, her intense new powers, and trying to figure out what? and why? they are. The worst part of this story is that it leaves you on a terrible cliffhanger. Nothing is wrapped up here at the end and we must read the next book to find out how things all turn out. (Which, of course I will be doing in the very near future)!

Hehehe! We be speedy! Admire your faith, but...well. (And don't even try to pull any fable parallels. Just not relevant.)

*grin*

On another note...I've been on a series re-read binge (for the past 6 months or so...instead of having to pick a new book every few days, just pick a series and don't have to worry about decisions for awhile...another reason to love the "directed" reading of BINGO when RL is absolutely insane). I think I may give Georgina a reread! Had "forgotten" about it, but liked it.

Shelf: Demons

★★★★☆

I've been waiting to read Reaver's book foreeeeeeeeeeever.

The first half was a little boring. I would have liked for them to have gotten out of Shouel a bit earlier. The rescue, then getting caught and then getting away seemed to drag on.

Other than that I loved it! Harvester and Reaver have always had great scenes together. Here they're still just as snarky, but only hotter.

I totally wasn't expecting that ending. I'm definitely looking forward to the next one.

I want to read The Painting of Porcupine City by Ben Monopoli next. I loved the other book I read by him.

Review: This is the final book in the Arcadia Bell series and picks up where the last one left off. Lots more action and intrigue, with never a dull moment. I am sad to see it go. I think there was so much more that could have been discovered in this unique world. However, the book wraps everything up pretty well, and ends with a nice epilogue to tie it all together.

Kristen Ashely never disappoints me!! Broken Dove was another amazing story that captivates you from the very beginning and doesn't let go until well after you have finished the book. Maddie is a great character and although I wanted to strangle Apollo a few times he grew on me by the middle of the book. I hope to get more books from this series because it is one of my favorites of hers.

This might be my favorite in the series so far. The mystery was great. Julianna was seriously deranged and I couldn't wait for Eve to give her what she deserved.

I not only loved the mystery, but really every part of this book.

We got to meet Peabody's parents, who are just such a delight. Eve made huge steps in moving forward from her past. And there were some scenes between her and Roarke that brought me to tears.

Not to mention McNab and She-body! *dies*

Shelf: Green/teal cover
read: 3/11/15
rating: *

I hated this. I was sorry I switched to it after finding it at the used book store. The story line was dumb, I hated Ms. Mermaid. I had forgotten why I was bored with book 1. Fred is not funny nor is she a character one can care about.

Davidson's series about Queen Betsy was kind of funny, and not boring. This was a struggle to finish. Characters were one dimensional, although the story setting is different than most. But it's like the author just wanted to pump it out, and I can't recommend it to anyone.

Deidre (AlaskaReader) | 267 comments Book: Dragon Justice Dragon Justice (Paranormal Scene Investigations #4) by Laura Anne Gilman
Shelf: Paranormal Romance
Read: 3/13/15
Rating: ***½

Once again, Laura Anne Gilman meanly ends a series. What's with this? Look at all the series that go on forever, until you want to run screaming because you don't have book 4, and now the author put out book 12.

But not Ms. Gilman, no, she cuts you off at the pass, every time.

This series is slightly related to The Retrievers, which she cruelly ended at book 6. There are overlapping characters, but the Retrievers always seemed darker, and more serious than this one, which is the Paranormal Scene Investigators. Boy, was I wrong. She really let's you have it in this one. AND JUST LIKE THE ILONA ANDREWS BOOK I REVIEWED, SHE KILLS SOMEONE MAJOR!!!!! No fair, this was supposed to be light-hearted!

The characters belong to PUPI (Private, Unaffiliated Paranormal Investigations). Now see, with a cute name like puppies, it has to be light-hearted. Not. I don't think I'm giving away the book to say that FINALLY Ben and Bonnie get together, but it is so low-key, you might miss it. Not hot and heavy, another surprise.

The plot involves a person or thing running around vivisecting "talents" who are the human magic types. There are also fatae, who are magic, but don't use it, like dragons, trolls, piskies, etc.

This series requires that you read it in order, too much will be missed. The author's world building is complex, and without reading it in order, you will become lost.

Although I liked this book, it is 3 ½ stars because about 2/3rds of the way through, the plot lines got tangled and confusing. Too many subplots, and then everything wrapped up too fast.

(view spoiler)

I was kind of confused at the end, and thus not so many stars. Do not go into this book thinking it's a light, fluffy paranormal romancy thing, as the first 3 would have you believe. Nope, POW, she goes after everyone. (view spoiler)
