André (abartholomeu) | 17 comments I hope I'm posting in the right section/folder...

I don't know what to do in this case: we have this series (https://www.goodreads.com/series/3113...) with 3 volumes.

Here in Brazil (and apparently in other few countries, the publisher has split volumes 2 and 3 differently, resulting in volumes 2, 3 and 4.

How should I add those books in both the series and as "editions" of the original ones (1, 2 and 3 are all created and linked with each other, as they were equivalent)?

If it helps:

Original Volume 1 (Books of Magic, Vol. 1: Moveable Type) "Collects Books of Magic #1-6 and The Sandman Universe #1"
Original Volume 2 (Books of Magic, Vol. 2: Second Quarto) "Collects Books of Magic #7-13"
Original Volume 3 (Books of Magic, Vol. 3: Dwelling in Possibility) "Collects Books of Magic #14-23"

Brazilian Volume 1 (O Universo de Sandman: Os Livros Da Magia, Vol. 1 - Tipos Móveis) "Esta edição reúne The Sandman Universe 1 e Books of Magic 1 a 6"
Brazilian Volume 2 (O Universo de Sandman: Os Livros Da Magia, Vol. 2 - Hora das Histórias) "Esta ediçãao reúne Books of Magic 7 a 12"
Brazilian Volume 3 (O Universo de Sandman: Os Livros Da Magia, Vol. 3 - Más Influências) "Está edição reúne Books of Magic 13 a 18"
Brazilian Volume 4 (not created yet) "Books Of Magic (2018) 19-23"

Michele | 6354 comments The Librarian's Manual says, "Please do not add a new series for each language the books have been published in, unless the numbering of the books differs from that of the existing series."

In this case the numbering *does* differ, so I think two different series would be the correct solution.

André (abartholomeu) | 17 comments Thank you, Michele, for your answer, and sorry for my delay.

It does solve the question about the series, and I will understand that the same logic applies to understand that the editions should *not* be combined after all... Probably it's just a matter of correctly recording the "original work" fields for all of them, right?
