GHOSTPEAKE'S HISTORY
A few decades ago, Ghostpeake was not the peaceful, prosperous country it is today. The past king, Cadel Varon, threw the country into many pointless wars and allowed his people to suffer while the rich lived like gods. He was a tyrant, ruling with an iron fist and abusing his power at every chance he got. The people grew tired, and a revolution led by the king's own son overthrew Cadel, exiling him beyond the mountains. His son took the throne and swore to bright Ghostpeake into an era of peace, and he did exactly that. Under the rule of the new king, Ghostpeake has become a prospering kingdom.
SPECIES
Humans make up about 45% of Ghostpeake's population. They have more variety in appearance, but have no natural connection to magic and the arcane. I'm just going to assume you know what a human is. Lifespan: under 100 years.
Elves are about 18% of the population. They're generally tall, with longer ears that come to a point. Elves also have a very strong natural affinity for magic. The royal family is also mostly elven. They age and mature at about the same rate as humans unil around 40, where the aging slows significantly. Lifespan: 600~ years.
Dwarves make up roughly 17% of Ghostpeake's population. They're more on the short and stocky side, with sharper teeth than most. They don't have as much magical ability as elves, but most have a deep connection to the earth. Unlike elves, Dwarves mature evenly throughout their entire lifespan, considered adults once they're about 70. Lifespan: 800~ years
Mixed-species are around 9% of the population. These individuals are a mix of two or more different species, and they generally have a combination of traits from both species. Lifespan: Roughly the average of their parents' lifespan.
Faefolk make up 6% of the population. They generally look like a cross between a human and some other being, like a plant or animal. The Fae have an extremely strong connection to magic and nature. They mature evenly throughout their life and are considered adults around 120. Lifespan: 1000~ years
The remaining five percent is made of several different species - the ones listed here aren't all of them. There are also dragonborn, formshifters (shapeshifters), naiads and dryads, gnomes, etc. The ones in the list are just the most common.
AREAS IN GHOSTPEAKE (wip)
Whitehollow City is the largest city in the kingdom, starting in the far northeast at the foot of the mountains and ending around the middle of the kingdom. It's home to a few million people from all sorts of backgrounds and species, and it's where the royal castle is located. Whitehollow's main industry is luxury items and trading, and shipments are constantly flowing in and out from nations beyond the mountain range.
The Royal Castle is exactly what it sounds like - the home of Ghostpeake's royal family. It's located in Whitehollow City.
Veinwind is a smaller town in the southeast, with a few thousand people there. The population is mainly dwarves, as Veinwind's primary industry is blacksmithing and mining, but there are several other species living there too.
West Pine is an almost entirely Fae village in the middle of the kingdom, right at the edge of the Pitch forest. It's by far the smallest town in Ghostpeake, with less than five hundred permanent residents, very few of whom are non-fae. West Pine is a mostly self-sufficient community, although they get some travelers on their way to the Pitch Forest. It's mainly focused on magic and teaching it, as well as healing.
Torrents is a medium-sized fishing town on an island in the middle of Blood Lake. It's mostly humans, though there are plenty of other species living there, with a population of just over one thousand. The people living in Torrents are generally very superstitious, and there's not much magic in the town.
Blue Hills is a large rural city that's largely made up of farmland. Its population - about two thousand - is made up of a variety of species, but mainly elves. Blue Hills is a farming town and grows a good portion of Ghostpeake's produce.
The Pitch Forest covers a large chunk of Ghostpeake. It's fairly safe on the outskirts, but the deeper in you go, the less likely you are to return.
Uncharted Territories are places that are completely unmapped, just marked as dangerous. There are several small ones across Ghostpeake, but the two largest are deep in the Pitch Forest and between Blood Lake and Blue Hills.
QUESTING TOPICS
Occasionally, two or more characters will go on their own private adventure. If you want to have a personal roleplay here without anyone else joining, you can request your own topic for a closed 1x1 or more. It's entirely optional - you don't have to have a questing topic, it's just for those who want them. You can also roleplay your characters in both questing topics they're in and in the normal roleplay at once.
