This is written fairly well, but I didn't like it as much as When Crickets Cry or two of the other books I have read by Martin. Some of it has to do with familiarity--another man who has gone anonymous--but I thought about it and still think that the ones with that as part of the book had something just a bit more that made them a fair bit better. I have read only one where the man wasn't anonymous in one way or another, and am going to be careful how many of those I read. I gave a full 5 stars to the first two books I read by him.

This is a somewhat pithy romance, which is something I like--not fluffy--and, like at least one other book I have read by Martin, deals with grief, along with some other issues. The blurb tells you more.

One of the things I like about Martin's books--and this is because he has been successful enough that he can afford to do this--is that if he hasn't already been somewhere, he visits it and studies it before including it. If anyone who reads this is a fan of Martin and can name one or more of his books in the comments that don't involve a man who is not going by his real name and/or in hiding, that would be great. I have already read Chasing Fireflies, an early book by him I gave 5 stars to, which has a male POV who isn't doing that. That said, he was adopted so doesn't know his true birth name (but it's a lot different because he isn't in hiding, really wealthy, etc)
