Awesome! I went to very few concerts, but once got to see a reunion tour of Crosby, Stills and Nash (sadly, no Young). My friend had to go back and exchange our tickets when they changed to reserved seating after some sort of trouble broke out. We got fairly good seats, too. Loved it.

This song came out with all 4 of them before I was listening to the radio on my own (so I was just a young child), but I loved this one and it was one of my favourite songs by them. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EkaKw...

I didn't own any of their records. Once I "broke up" with my crush on Donny Osmond and broke all of their records (I was very sensitive and couldn't take my family's teasing about it--it took me a long time to learn to laugh at myself--I started around age 16, well past then) I was putting my money into clothes and things not music because I could listen to the radio for free.

My dad did NOT want us walking around the village with radios next to our ears, so the first radio I got for my own was an antique from an elderly couple we knew that made those cool noises when you changed stations. It wasn't huge, but it did have tubes in it.

Robin P The winning skater today, Nathan Chen, got a record high score while performing to the song La Bohème by Charles Aznavour, who I mentioned a while back. I know that for a long time, skaters had to use classical music or at least music without lyrics, but they changed that at some point. This song is about being a starving artist but young and in love in Paris, so very romantic.

What are you watching with a winning skater?
I love Charles Aznavour.

The tune is good.
I'm sure my dad would hate this--he's Mr. Classical Music and a huge fan of opera. (well, he does listen, or used to listen, to some folk, but only certain ilks).

It seems like people who do speak a foreign language I can't understand. What is on TV with skaters? I see you live in Wisconsin, maybe it's a local thing. I imagine you have snow...and skating.

Jazzy Lemon (jazzylemon) | 1053 comments Had it been summer there would have been screens and chairs set up for people to watch the festivities in Eldon Square, if the covid is not too bad. I suppose we'll see Wimbledon again this year.

Last weekend, but will still last about ten days. :) I only watch the summaries, as it´s set in China, so not at my time.

Michaela Don´t know if Sting has been mentioned before, but atm I´m once again listening to his Touch of Jazz collection of his most "jazzy" (LOL!) songs: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lUqBP...

I would have expected my dad to mention it as he lives in Hong Kong, but he is suffering from dementia and can't even remember his dog's name! I used to love the Olympics, but no one in my building has TV, nor many of my friends. I read the fronts of the papers on the rack at the supermarket but didn't see any articles on the front pages. I guess Team GB isn't doing so well!

PS. These are the times I miss having a television set.

Sorry about your dad, and hope you can watch it in livestream or summaries on your PC too. I saw that GB was fourth in Curling, but maybe Dave Ryding will again get a medal in Slalom. :)

Oh, I'm sorry to hear about your dad. My mother has either dementia or Alzheimer's (you can only know by a biopsy or something like that, according to an MD relative) and it's hard when they live far away (she's not as far from me as your dad is from you, but still more than 2000 miles.)

message 120: by Jazzy (new)

Jazzy Lemon (jazzylemon) | 1053 comments Thank you Karin. I was very upset when I found out about my Dad in December - (And at almost the same time found out that my mum ALSO has dementia -she's living with my sister who looks after her). My dad went walkabout in Hong Kong without his phone and worried his wife (a doctor). She has attached a tracker to his trousers now so unless he goes out in only his pants (underwear to the Americans) they can find him. But i've come to terms somewhat that this is the way it is now, and that we shall not meet again in this life.

I was listening to T.Rex today.

Karin, that album cover reminds me of The Band. So we put on The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down. EVERYTHING aside, it is a beautiful song.

I love Putumayo. I have a number of their CDs and also I have taken some out from the library and downloaded them to my computer. Some of my favorites are Music from the Wine Lands, Mediterranean Journey, Arabic Groove, and anything French.

Karin Oh, the French. Here is a young French singer with an awesome mezzo voice! I love how she sings this song (the song is in English), Amor by Bolcom, and it's a fun song:

This is Adèle Charvett and she's accompanied by the world-class collaborative pianist, Susan Manoff.

No, I didn't--I really didn't follow all of that stuff once I got over my crush on Donny Osmond. I knew the songs, the titles and the bands, but didn't always even know who sang what--didn't pay enough attention, although I did know about the classical composers whose music I played in my lessons.

Karin I spent time trying to figure out who the woman drummer is in a Christian band, but found nothing! I realize this isn't a popular genre hear, but it's based in Nashville so lots of great musicians.

In this band, but the oldest video or two has a different drummer:
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCvb7...

There is no website for them and the church website (three places in Nashville) doesn't name the musicians either! She might be Hispanic, Native American or Asian--I can't get a clear look (or a mix...) but she is excellent.

Contemporary Christian/praise/gospel is 99% of the music I listen to, so I appreciate this link!

I clicked on "about" on their YouTube page - it says the musicians rotate. I googled Church of the City drummer and found a page - echanmusic.com. Does that look like the same drummer to you?

Yes, thanks! Clearly I was a poor sleuth!!!!! I'm glad I am not the only one listening to a lot of Christian music (but I don't care for all of it--there isn't a genre of music where I like it all). She's very good, isn't she?
