didn't read it this February but would love to recommend it for our young readers. Nine Lives scholastic books. I recommend them highly. I read them as a kid and the books are amazing. each book is about 3 cats and each have a different little story.
I read The Cat Who Saved Books 03/02/2022Not my favourite book a bit too thin and childlike in the narrative
The cat is a magical reality thing
I don't dislike cats but this one certainly adds nothing to the book there must be better portrayals

I was considering this one, too, since my library has it. Sorry to hear you didn't like it.

others think it is good just not my thing
I listened to The Dalai Lama's Cat
★★
yes, I admit I listened to this to suit a challenge that cross over with this one and available on audio so... there wasn't many interesting choices. It was okay - told in perspective of the cat who lives with Dalai Lama so stories around people around Dalai Lama and what this cat learns from them. Not really my thing, I guess...

I read The Travelling Cat Chronicles [3-feb-2022] ★★★★I enjoyed this book and love the humor. A cat and his owner go on a road trip. In many of the chapters we get a story about the past, which makes it feel like a string of short stories. All of them are connected by the cat's owner. I thought this was nicely done. This book made me laugh, though it had some sad moments as well. Some of the descriptions of the surroundings are beautiful.
I'd like to nominate : adventure
It's my first month in this group, and my laziness already came back to bite me! I read The Dead Cat Bounce, thinking that if "Cat" was in the title it must be on the cat shelf, but it had nothing to do with cats. (I should have consulted my husband, who immediately recognized the title as a stock market term.) So, to keep myself honest, I read another book -- Arsenic and Old Books, which is part of the Cat in the Stacks series about an archivist whose feline companion goes with him everywhere. I'm not a cat lover, so I don't really warm to cats as characters, but the mystery (involving Civil War diaries that competing politicians try to use to their advantage) was fairly good.I'll nominate the Librarian shelf: https://www.goodreads.com/genres/libr...
I read Cat Trick by Sofie Kelly. I gave it 3*.
Two feral cats have adopted a librarian and help her solve mysteries. Each cat has a paranormal talent. This is a fun cozy mystery with wonderful characters. I picked it up from a Free Library kiosk and now will have to find the previous 3 books and any others to continue with this series.
I second the librarian nomination.

I second the librarian nomination.
The Ocean at the End of the Lane by Neil Gaiman - 3.5 starsThis wasn't my favorite book by Neil Gaiman, but it was still enjoyable and very weird. A book for adults, written from the point of view of a 7-year-old boy. Features several different cats, although I wouldn't say they're an integral part to the story.
Read for Just Read It prompt 2.
I nominate weird (of course!)
I Am a Cat by Natsume Sōseki★★
A cat narrator gives insight into the lives of the middle class in 1900s Japan. Unfortunately I found it a bit long and boring. I probably would have really enjoyed this as a short story. The cattish parts were good, and the rest was informative, but just too bland or old-fashioned to hold my attention. I would recommend this for lovers of classics, rather than lovers of cats.
Read for JRI-read the world
I nominate past-and-present
The Cat Who Knew Shakespeare by Lilian Jackson BraunI've read a few of this series now, and I was enjoying Jim Qwilleran's improbable life in a museum surrounded by beautiful things and two unusual cats. There was too much destruction in this one for me to feel the same way about it. So many deaths and other sad happenings, and none of it seems to touch Jim with any emotion. But I gave it 3 stars, largely because of the cats.
Read for By the Month and Just Read It
I nominate Memoir: https://www.goodreads.com/shelf/show/...
Will My Cat Eat My Eyeballs? And other Questions about Dead Bodies by Caitlin DoughtyRating: 5 stars
Finished: 2/14/22
This was a nonfiction book but the author made it a fun read. She answers many questions that kids ask her and I found I was really learning stuff but too afraid to ask. The cat is really only mentioned a couple of times but it makes for a great title.
Read it for: Moving Mountains 2022,
I nominate: urban fantasy
I read The Traveling Cat Chronicles. It was a bit too cutesy for me, but since it was short and quick, I didn't really mind much. I gave it 3*, but just barely.
The Cat Who Came to Breakfast★★★
This book is part of a series of books written by Lilian Jackson Braun. There is like a million of them, but this one was just ok. Qwilleran the lead character in all of these cozy mysteries takes off to a tourist island to investigate some strange "accidents". The quirky Qwill tickled me fussing over his cats, but the book bored me. I was interested enough to finish the book and to see who was the culprit.
I nominate post-apocalyptic
I read The Cougar Conundrum: Sharing the World with a Successful Predator by Lawrence Mark Elbroch and gave it 5 stars.Educational and well-written by an expert on the topic.
I nominate fashion.
For this month I read Dewey: The Small-Town Library Cat Who Touched the World. I gave it 4 stars. Easy read but very cute and touching. I may be a bit biased because I work in kitty rescue so I have a special fondness for anything along those lines. Plus I'm pregnant so I cried a lot but that could be the hormones lol. But the book was adorable. Didn't fit any other challenges for the month.I nominate Post Apocalypse
