I finished my Feb read in just 2 sittings!It was a wild one that you can't think too much about reality because of course it couldn't happen.

I love Lisa Jewell! My favorite of hers is I Found You
Thanks, I just added it! I saw some complaints that her newest one is a bit different than her "usual style" but I am excited to find a new author to love.
I have read 4 of Lisa Jewel's books and I have rated them all 3 or 4 stars. There have a been a few that are just meh for me. I do have the new one (and some others) on my TBR though, so I am excited to hear what you think about it.
I was surprised to see that she has written her first sequel.
I didn't know she had a sequel. That is cool.
Dana I thought the book called The Night She Disappeared by Lisa Jewell was pretty good but they were too many f words in the book
I read The Family Upstairs by Lisa Jewell last month. I didn't think it was good as some of her others unfortunately. I found it a bit "odd" (for lack of a better word) and couldn't really connect with it as much as I wanted to so only rated it 3 stars. I won't rush to buy the sequel but I might pick it up if I happen to see it at the library...

I am really enjoying it so far!
I finished Zennor in Darkness, took a while to get into it with all the different threads but I really enjoyed it once I got in to it. As you expect with Helen Dunmore, the writing is excellent.

I am finally on line. I will vote on your lists and post my selections today. We are now settled into Kentucky and have experienced some scary weather. The tornado that hit Mayfield in December was only about 20 miles from us. I am now going to experience 4 seasons for the first time in many years. The dogwoods in the spring are supposed to be really something. My sister said that people plan vacations around visiting when they are in bloom. I am excited to see them myself.
Wow! I can't imagine that kind of scary weather. Do you have a basement? Is that what you do?The seasons would be cool. I am sure you will enjoy that.
Good to have you back Patricia and glad you are settled in Kentucky. Very scary about the tornado but luckily you are alright! It's nowhere near as bad, but we had 3 storms in four days in the UK for which London was put on red alert for the first time ever (I believe) due to the strong winds and flood risk. It was all very exciting. The changing seasons are one thing I do love about the UK though, it's nice to have a distinction. I hope the dogwoods live up to your expectations! I used to have one in a pot and it was spectacular in winter.

The other claim to fame in Paducah is the quilt museum. There is a festival in April that attracts about 30,000 quilters from all over the world. The winner of the quilt show receives a sizable award plus is featured in the museum. I recommend that you look it up on the web. The quilts are incredible works of art.I just received "Quilt City Murders" in the mail which is suppose to be set here. It also discussed the quilt show and some of the local area highlights. I am sure my neighbors and my sister will expect to be passed the copy as soon as I read it.
Glad you are okay after that Patricia, that must have been scary. We have 4 seasons here in Canada and I could really live without it this year - seems like the coldest/snowiest winter in a while.

I live in eastern Washington State and we had snow last night!!!! What? Why?
Nope... I can't do snow. Too cold. I would become a hermit. Dana, glad you liked it. I need to bump it up the list!
I am a hermit in the winter!! and it has been sooo cold. Like consistently minus 10 (celcius). Unfortunately my daughter and dog don't mind the cold so I am stuck out there more often than I'd like :)California and Washington are both places I would love to visit. I live about 1.5 hours from the Buffalo border, so I've done lots of eastern US, not the west.

I would recommend visiting Mount Rainier, Seattle, driving through the Columbia Gorge, Spokane, and Palouse Falls.
Per California, I would definitely suggest you visit San Francisco.
Sounds great, I will write those down :) I've been to Vancouver and always imagined it was pretty similar to northern Washington, especially the landscape etc.
As a lot of you come from across the pond I wonder if anyone can give me any recommendations for places to visit? My friend and I have talked about splashing out on a trip to the US or Canada for our 40th birthdays. There are so many cities that look amazing, especially Boston, New Orleans and Nashville. Similarly Banff National Park in Alberta looks unreal! It's not for another 5 years so we have plenty of time to plan but any recommendations would be appreciated :)

Depending on time of year, San Diego is a can't miss because we have good weather all the time and the world famous zoo.
I took my daughter to New York after her GCSE’s in summer 17 & we absolutely loved it.

New Mexico is definitely worth a trip and if you're in Canada - Victoria and Vancouver in the West are great. If you are in Vancouver, you can take a ferry through the San Juan Islands between Canada and Washington State.
As a point of history, it was on one of the San Juan Islands where a war between the US and UK was sparked by a stolen pig!
Also, if you like nature, think about some of our national parks - the Badlands in the Dakotas, the Grand Canyon, Yosemite, Yellowstone. Also if you're in Washington State, the Mt St Helens are is fascinating.

Boston is really cute too. If you are going in the winter, lots of warm climate to check out. Nashville is great, but I went in the summer and it was HOT lol. I'd love to visit San Diego someday :)
Banff is a great choice - the rocky mountains are amazing. Vancouver and Whistler are great too, but the rockies are more picturesque and less $$. That would be such a fun trip with your friend!
Just remember if you go to the southeast, there is the factor of humidity. I have asthma and humidity is a killer for me.
I've never heard of the San Juan Islands but the idea of a war breaking out over a pig sounds very British! I had a look at some pictures and the scenery looks stunning. Reminds me of Twilight! I saw pictures of whales too, whale watching is something I've always wanted to do so I'm sold already. A friend of mine went to California for a couple of months when we were in college and she said San Diego was one of her favourite places and much preferred it over LA.
I had a boyfriend once who was from near Banff. He used to show me the most unreal pictures he'd taken from his boat on Lake Louise, which was his local fishing spot. The ice sculpture festival there also looks amazing.
Noted re. heat in summer in the SE. I don't mind heat (apart from humidity making my hair go wild) but my friend is ghostly pale and of Irish heritage and burns just looking at the sun so we may have to pick our dates carefully lol. She wants to go to Vegas, which I suppose is sort of a rite of passage, but it's not really on my top ten list of places to see. I've potentially agreed we can finish the trip there as long as we can see other places first!

Reminds me of Twilight! I s..."Twilight is set in Forks, Washington, and the scenes on the Reservation are at La Push. In fact, Forks has a huge Twilight tourist industry.
I've never wanted to go to Vegas either Sophie, but I think you're right. It's probably somewhere everyone should see at least once if they can. I bet it's hot there in the desert too! I live with the humidity in he summer and it is pretty terrible. Fall would be perfect for all these places, although Banff area can get snow starting in September :(

I can't stand humidity. It's like trying to breath a brick wall.

But it's a dry heat!!
Autumn is one of my favourite seasons anyway so it wouldn't be a hardship for me to travel then. Plus, I've always wanted to witness a US Halloween - it seems so much bigger and better than ours over here! We had such an awful summer in the UK last year I'd take any sort of heat right! It feels like this winter has lasted forever too - dry heat or humidity, I don't care, I'd take it all lol
I hear ya Sophie, better than the winter and snow in my opinion! Especially if you can be swimming lol
