Would Sadie count as a secondary character in The Covenant

Melanie, Last night (Sunday) during my reading session, I came across another secondary character whose first & last names begin with S, so would that give me 2 more points?

Page: 71
“The only participant to protest loudly was Slammy Stillman, the overgrown town bully, who never had played fair.”

(Reminder: my book is “Rascal” by Sterling North.)

If this newly introduced character counts as 2 points, for first & last name, that would give me a total of 3 points, right?

Sorry for the late reply, I've been off of Goodreads for a bit and just saw this.

Ideally they wouldn't be mentioned in the blurb, but I'm not checking people's books for that. Just trusting that the character is not a lead.

Category: Title

The title category must have a word beginning with the chosen letter ANYWHERE in the title. The words "A", "AN", "AND", or "THE" do NOT count towards points.

If more than one of the words in the title begin with the chosen letter, it will be worth more points (1 point for each valid word beginning with the letter).

We will be going off of the title listed on Goodreads and can include the subtitle since that is seen as the full title. If the book's series is included in parenthesis, that won't count since it isn't the title.

For example:

The Truth War: Fighting for Certainty in an Age of Deception - 1 point for the word Age
Anxious for Nothing: God's Cure for the Cares of Your Soul - 1 point for Anxious

Melanie, I posted a question in this thread 8 days ago, but never got an answer. Can you please scroll back a bit, check it, & update me? I’m wondering: my book has an extra secondary character whose 1st & last names both start with S. Would that give me 2 extra points?

Now, that I’ve finished my chosen book, I’ve found 2 MORE secondary characters have been listed who each have 1 part of their names starting with S. So would that be 5 points total for my book?
1. Page 108: Garth Shadwick “We stopped at Shadwick’s Harness and Leather Emporium, which smelled delightfully of tanned leather, saddle soap, and harness oil. … Garth Shadwick, like his father before him, was a craftsman in leather whose skill was known as far away as the county seat and state capital.”
2. Page 134: Miss Stafford “At least two of my new teachers were greatly gifted. Miss Stafford made English a delight.”

Monica, I'm sorry my notifications have been so wonky and I didn't see that comment. Is Slammy Stillman a female? It sounds like a male name, but not sure. Regardless, we only get points for one secondary female character in a book no matter how many secondary female characters we find.

Short answer: yes, if there are more than one valid word starting with A than you get more points (one for each valid "A" word)

Longer answer:

Melanie, it’s OK that you missed my original question about extra secondary characters. 👌

Thanx for asking about “Slammy Stillman.” Yes, he’s a male character, & I’d momentarily forgotten that the category is just FEMALE characters beginning with the letter S. 🤦‍♀️ So, those 2 points would not count after all. 🤣

The easiest way (in my opinion) to find a book for this category is to look at the tagged shelves of any book you want to read and see if you can find something.

For example, I want to read Riverbend Gap. I click on "genres" on the right side of the page and search the shelves. On the first page there is this shelf: "inspirational-romance", which would be one point...but there is also "2022-love-is-in-the-air-challenge", which would be two points for IS and IN.
