Dr. Fredrickson makes an excellent point when she talks about cell renewal. She mentions "Seeing yourself and your cells in this way, every three months you get a whole new you." This is such a good way to look at making changes, and being more positive. Every three months we get a new chance to make these changes and become a new person.

I also found it very interesting that negativity can prompt cell decay, while positivity can prompt cell growth. This is even more reason to practice positivity.

So I am struggling with the math she uses pps. 74-75 as it does not compute that you turn ALL of it the body’s cells over in a “season”. I have always been taught in medical school and on residency rotations that it takes roughly seven years to turn all the cells over in your body. Unless her definition of a season is a seven year cycle that does not jive w/what I learned.

Dr. Fredrickson IS correct about our habits affecting cell turnover. The lifestyle medicine choices we make; foods we consume (whole food plant based over animal products), amount and quality of our sleep (7-9 hrs uninterrupted), not smoking/not using alcohol or other substances of abuse, exercising, reducing stress, and having quality positive relationships all contribute to healthy cell function and growth.
