Thea Stilton is a mouse and a journalist. She travels to Mouse Island to teach a journalism class. Soon one of the students disappears. Thea enlists the help on five of her students to help find him. I'm quite a bit older than the intended audience for this book but it was still fun. I like that the five girl students were from around the world and had different interests, including one being a mechanic. There are tidbits scattered throughout the book with info on subjects such as Vikings and having a cricket as a pet. The book also points out when there is a clue to help young readers solve the case. I did get annoyed by the insertion of mouse into random words, such as "fabulmouse". It reminded me too much of the smurfs where every word had smurf stuck in it. The book also does have one wrong point. Early on it talks about wind direction and the book says a north wind would blow a sailboat north. A north wind comes from the north so it would blow a sailboat south. There are apparently a lot of books featuring Thea and her brother Geronimo. I enjoyed this book enough that I might pick up another one.
