It would need to be 50% of the cover to work for the alternate.

I got this book thanks to HarperCollins a long while back now, and am just getting to it. I'm so glad I did read this because I wasn't aware of the Partisan forces during WW2! And it's so interesting reading about NZ people fighting and helping, especially one as incredible as John Denvir. Such different times we live in now. I could not imagine roughing it in the mountains for months or years, fighting and ambushing Italian forces. Such an eye-opener

Review:
This is a new book in a series following the MacGalloway family set in recency Scotland and London. A new historical romance series that promises to be great if this book is anything to go by.
Martin MacGalloway, upon his father’s sudden death, heads home for Scotland where he finds his inheritance in a shambles, his sisters without prospects, and his brothers relying on his patronship. He hires a new steward Jules little does he know its Lady Julia St. Vincent having fallen on hard times has to pretend to be a man and get a post to make ends meet.
The characters are brilliant and the chemistry between the two off the charts as friends and when the truth comes out. Can't wait to get my hands on the next book.

Book: The Lost Plot

How it fits: #4 in the Invisible Library series
Rating: 4 stars
Review: I think this has been my favorite installment since reading the first book in this series! In this one we follow Irene and Kai into a 1920s-esque world, which I loved as a setting. Plot wise this one was focused on a political contest between two dragons and how the Library has unwittingly started to get pulled into it, which Irene is trying to stop. I think I much prefer the dragons as characters and storylines than I do the Fae which is why I liked this one better than the last two. I also enjoyed the return to the "adventure of the week" storyline with this one after the third book focused more on the series long plot.

I wasn't sure how I was going to feel about this series continuing after the initial mystery arc of the first 3 books was tied up. Surprisingly though I really enjoyed this. I think it helped that this story wasn't drug out over multiple books, but instead is one mystery with a solution all tied up within this story.
I liked being back with this group of friends a lot. They're a lot of fun. Stevie was determined to figure things out or at least be able to provide some new information, but a lot of this story is just Stevie off doing things on her own. I would have liked her friends to be a little more involved in figuring things out.
Actually that's really my biggest complaint with this story is there was too much kept hidden until the final reveal that as the audience we really couldn't figure it out along with Stevie. There were just too many gaps without that one key piece of evidence that we get to see when everyone else does as well.
Still I really enjoyed reading this and it's a fun YA mystery series. I look forward to it continuing.

Review: I'm on day 6 right now and I feel like this book is already changing my relationship with my phone. I'm really excited to continue on with this journey and am genuinely looking forward to the phone detox. My main issue is with Tiktok, and I am hoping to form a better relationship with my phone where I choose to go on my phone instead of letting my phone control me.

✸ One point can be earned for starting and finishing a series. There must be at least 4 books in that series. Series + spin-off totalling ≥4 books also counts. For series with >9 books, point will be awarded for reading books 1-9. For still ongoing series, all books published to date (OR up to #9 in longer series) must be read.~ No re-reads on this one.
Has anyone managed to reach these?

Review:
The suspense and storytelling of this novel definitely earned a 4 out of 5 stars. It was absolute perfection and I will definitely be looking more into this author. I liked that there was two different mysteries intertwined into one - it made it more fun to follow along that way even though I did think that the second mystery that opened after the first was solved was a little predictable but still an entertaining read.
I will say that the romance part of the novel was kind of 'meh'. It wasn't horrible but definitely felt rushed and I would have been fine as a reader if it had even been left open ended.

Book: The 5th Horseman - James Patterson and Maxine Pietro
Rating: 3/5 stars
Review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
As a hospital and court room drama/mystery, I wasn't as much of a fan of this James Patterson novel as I was of other Women's Murder Club books. It felt a little slow and it wasn't until about half way in that I was actually getting into the storyline unlike some of the other novels. I think one of the big reasons is because of the two very different mysteries that were at the forefront of the book. Because of how different they were and how they didn't mesh together, I couldn't find myself getting into them. Plus, the ending felt a little too wrapped up and too fast.

Feel better soon :)
sorry I haven't been around much this week guys. Mum has had various appointments at the hospital and work has been crazy. I am about 30 pages away from finishing my book. Will post later.

While I didn't love this one quite like I did Wicked and the Wallflower I still thought this was a fun read! I liked Hattie and her desire to take on her family's business. I enjoyed Whit and was glad to return to the Covent Garden world of the Bareknuckled Bastards.
The "I'll do something for you and in exchange you'll take my virginity" trope used in this one however just isn't my favorite set up. I think I just prefer any sex pactesque set ups to be more along the lines of "I want you to teach me how" instead.
Overall this one and the first has gotten me VERY intrigued by the third. I'm just so interested in how the character of Ewan we've seen through the eyes of the brothers who hate him will translate into being the hero of the third book.
