Review: Wow did this one really take a turn for the dark! After my reread of the first one I was left wondering where Marie Lu was going to take the story, whether she was going to reign it in or really lean into it and she really leaned into it. Adelina is a fascinating and dark character and she's kind of actually just the villain of this series I think? Marie Lu also knows how to not pull the punches with the story she is telling in this series. Definitely looking forward to see how this series gets wrapped up!

Book: One Night on the Island
Author: Josie Silver
Date Read: 10th Feb 2022

Review:
For me this book was just ok, it as described as a rom-com, set in a lovely location, and who doesn't want to go for a trip to Ireland? it always sounds so remote and wildly romantic. But for me personally this book was just missing something. I don't know if it is because I have read quite a few romances lately, that I have just enjoyed them more. I just didn't enjoy this one quite as much as I thought I would...
I think I am having a hard time with Mac our MC, who is still married in the book and has two children. Whilst he and his wife have been separated for a while, he still seems to be very much in love with her and hoping for a reconciliation, them all of a sudden he is sleeping and falling for someone else. I think if I had been in Clio's shoes I would have backed off and let Jack and his family work things out. I think this keep me from investing in the characters more.

Mercury Striking by Rebecca Zanetti

How Fits: #1 in Scorpius Syndrom
Read: (2/5)
Rating: ★★★★
I've been meaning to get to this book for years as I've loved other series' by the author. Somehow this kept getting pushed to the back burner. While this doesn't jump to the top of my favorites by this author, I did still enjoy this book. World ending plagues are still a bit of a tough read at the moment, but this has all the elements of a fun action packed series to look forward to.
As a couple I do like Lynne and Jax. He's hard and tough, having had to cut himself off from emotions to function in the cruelty that the new world seems determined to push on people. He fights hard to keep his people safe, and his small couple of blocks of Los Angeles are about as safe as it can get, which isn't very these days. Lynne on the other hand wants to help people, but most people are scared of her and what trying to stop this disease has done to her. No one really knows why her heart turned blue or what can be done to find a cure, but she may be one of the only scientists left who can get a start.
The hardest part about this read was it's pretty brutal to people you start to like. The world isn't an easy place and Rebecca Zanetti doesn't shy away from killing off even those characters you wish would find away through. I look forward to reading more in this series. It's hard when even the so called government has been corrupted and no one has a safe place to turn.

My fifth time rereading this book! Upon this reread I found myself very upset with Peter. By the time Lara Jean comes around and forgives him, I'm still upset about him sneaking around with his ex. And I mean come on the way they flip it around as if it was all her fault and he's innocent?? These books are so cozy and fluffy. Truly the perfect YA Romance.

How it Fits: Made into a TV series
Read: 12th Feb
Rating: ★★★
Review:
Dead Ever After is the last book in the Sookie Stackhouse series.
This series of books has got to be one of the best I have ever read, the books are entertaining and I always look forwards to the next one to see that is happening in Sookie's crazy world. But this one just seemed to be tied up a little too neatly and not in true Sookie style.
I also found the ending inevitable...(view spoiler)
Overall I think everyone should read these books whatever genre they are into romance, paranormal, humour or mystery books this series has it all. I would have loved to give this book 5 stars but I just couldn't, I feel like I am left with too many unanswered questions.["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>

Review: I loved this book, it was even better than the first one. I love following El's POV. It's kind of chaotic but her cynical voice is so fun to read for me. I loved how she unwittingly became the babysitter to a bunch of youngsters in this one and seeing her relationships (platonic and romantic) grow in this one was such a delight after the first one. And that ending. What the heck. I do not know how I can stand waiting until September to find out how it ends!

How great is it when that happens ;)

How great is it when that happens ;)"
How shit is it when he changes his plans and no longer goes out AHHHH. I only read 60 pages yesterday, I've got 650 pages I need to read over today and tomorrow, which is 3 and a quarter hours of straight listening each day... THAT'S A LOT.

My husband has decided he is going out tomorrow I am picking though my kindle. I feel your pain! ;)

I enjoyed this story for the most part. I think my biggest niggle with it was I didn't really see the appeal of Saint for most of the story. Once he truly did start to reform he grew on me. I liked Evelyn and the fact that in spite of her nerves she was determined to make a difference and help those less fortunate than herself. She was going to make sure those orphans were taken care of.
I got really annoyed with Evelyn's obnoxious brother as well. He talks down to her so badly I wanted to smack him. Everyone's disregard from Evelyn's own brain was frustrating for me, so I know it has to have driven her crazy.
All in all though I still enjoyed my read and Saint's ego got knocked down enough pegs that I was accepting of his relationship with Evelyn.

Three Women by Lisa Taddeo
How Fits: book to movie adaptation (not yet released)
Read: 2/11 - 2/18
Rating: ★★★★★
Review: Upon hearing the description of this book I knew that I would love it! I was so enthralled by the fact that these are real stories about real women. I love reading about flawed female characters. I find it helps heal my perfectionism and makes me feel more in touch with myself and other women.
