Book: Where the Drowned Girls Go
Author: Seanan McGuire
Pages: 160
How it fits: #7 in the Wayward Children series
Date read: 24.03.22
Rating: 4 stars

Review: Those books are always entertaining. In this book Cora is transfering to the other school. It is so different from Eleanor West's school. It is darker and more structured. Its purpose is to make the stuudents adjust to life in this world and forget the world they visited. The writing is good as always and the characters are intriguing.

Monica (nutz4reading) I wanted to stop in to let you know that I will be posting my review. My father passed away on Tuesday so I haven't been on my computer that much for fun.

This was a reread for me. It was a little dated, but it's understandable given its age. It was still an interesting story and I'm glad i read it again since i missed a lot the first time around.

Review: I have not read any books by Barbara Michaels. I enjoyed this book from the beginning. Ellen March finds her dream home which soon becomes her prison. Will her safe haven be the end of her or will she be able to escape what she sees?

Review: This might be my favorite of the series so far. It introduces new characters, descendants of characters in a past story, while also keeping up with some of the favorite characters from the original trilogy. I really hope we make it into the 80s next roll, because I really want the next book!

★★★

Review: I have always been fascinated by Marie Antoinette. I've read many books about her and have visited Versailles and the Conciergerie, where she was held prisoner before her execution. This book is well-researched and told from the queen's point of view. Any HF book has to have made up conversations, but I wish there had been more of those rather than the day-to-day minutiae of the queen's life. The last part of the book is told from Marie's daughter's POV. The daughter went on to have a long life, but I am horrified imagining the trauma she went through during the Revolution.

Review
This was the 7th installment in the Ponderosa Resort series and although I have only read the first in the series this only detracted a little from the story. Full of comedy moments that put lightheartedness into what had the potential to be a heartwrenching novel. Now need to go back and read the rest of the series.

Review: This is the explosive finale to the program series. As a finale this was satisfying. We answers to many questions that occur during the series, and characters from the other two duologies make an appearance to conclude their stories. The romance is still my cup of tea, but I enjoyed the rest of the story.

How it fits: Wayfarers #3
Review: I was, unfortunately, a bit disappointed in this one. I don't mind a story being told from multiple points of view, or even when the stories diverge (I love Terry Brooks' Shannara books, for example). But each section was so short that I spent the whole book getting into a character's story. Just when I was into that character it would jump to the next character. By the time I was adjusted to wanting to read about that character, it jumped to yet another one. I think there were 6, but I can't even really remember the MCs. I will read the next in the series, because I loved the first and enjoyed the second so much, but if this had been my introduction to Chambers' work, I would probably stop here.

Review
This was a new to me author and I'm definitely picking up the rest of this series. This is one of the better novels of this trope and the book was made even more enjoyable by the development of the characters and how Amelie a time traveller adapts to pre-war life as she tries to help Marie and Henri. Amelie has a few moral dilemmas as her growing attraction to Henri unfolds, how can she fall in love with a man who in her own time if he is still alive would be an old man; how much of the future should she divulge to the siblings she has grown fond of. Issues that would be difficult for anyone.

Book: Murder on the Ballarat Train
Author: Kerry Greenwood
Pages: 151
How it fits: #3 in the Phryne Fisher Series
Rating: 3 Stars

Review:
Those books are comfort reads for me. I really like Phryne Fisher, the main character and the way she interacts with other people. She is a very free spirited and independend person, and brings a lot of fun to the narrative. I also really like the setting of these stories (20's Australia) In this book she is investigating a murder that happened on a train. The only problem with this story was that it was so short. I could have read more pages about those adventures, and some characters could be more fleshed out...

★★★

Review: There are some series that allow you to pick up any one of them and the story makes sense and you are able to understand what's going on. This is not one of those series. Starting with #3 was not a good idea. I struggled to make sense and follow the plot but all I know is the heroine is a wolf who was tortured and the hero is a professional assassin. I felt like the story dragged and there were pages and pages where nothing happened. I probably would have liked this a lot more if I had read the earlier books.
