~~KRISTINE’S 2022 12+4 CHALLENGE~~
I've only read The Education of an Idealist. I think Samantha Power is a fascinating individual. I hope you enjoy. Good luck with all of your selections
What a great list, Kristine. I have read The Great Gatsby and A Gentleman in Moscow. Alissa and I also have Homegoing on our buddy reads list this year. Happy reading - hope you like what you chose.
John wrote: "Good luck to you! Months later, my mother still brings up how much she loved This Tender Land."John, thanks so much. I have heard a lot of good feedback about My Tender Land and luckily just got a copy on sale.
Lea wrote: "What a great list, Kristine. I have read The Great Gatsby and A Gentleman in Moscow. Alissa and I also have Homegoing on our buddy reads list this year. Same with The Man in Moscow. I have had it to read for 4 years. Decided on The Great Gatsby and also the new book The Chosen and the Beautiful since it’s a take on that book. See how I like it. Enjoy your year and Happy Reading
Ann wrote: "Enjoy your challenge, Kristine. I read and really liked "A Gentleman jn Moscow". I just purchased "The Beekeeper of Aleppo" on sale, so it didn't make it on my 12+4 list."Ann, thanks for the recommendation for The Man in Moscow. I too, purchased The Beekeeper of Aleppo on sale. My room and house and car are full of books ‘On Sale’ that I had to have. Think that is a good thing until I have to organize them all. LOL. Enjoy your reading in 2022.
Bill wrote: "I've only read The Education of an Idealist. I think Samantha Power is a fascinating individual. I hope you enjoy. Good luck with all of your selections"Bill, thanks and glad you liked Samantha Power’s book. I really think I will like it.
The Great Gatsby is a book that I think I read years ago, but I'm not really sure. LOL You have a wonderful list. Happy Reading!!
I like your list, Kristine. Homegoing and This Tender Land are both excellent, and I have at least 6 others on my TBR. Hope we'll both like them, happy reading!

I didn't realize that The Chosen and the Beautiful is a take on The Great Gatsby - I love that you are reading both this year. I love to read classics and remakes of classic books too.
Have you decided what you will try to read first?
Martha wrote: "The Great Gatsby is a book that I think I read years ago, but I'm not really sure. LOL You have a wonderful list. Happy Reading!!"Martha, thanks so much. Yes, I think I may have read The Great Gatsby, but not sure or was sleeping in class. I decided to try it along with The Chosen and the Beautiful. See what I think. Enjoy reading your books
Ioana wrote: "I like your list, Kristine. Homegoing and This Tender Land are both excellent, and I have at least 6 others on my TBR. Hope we'll both like them, happy reading!"Joanna, thanks for letting me know you liked them. I’ll have to look over your list, too. Enjoy your books

We should definitely compare notes on Homegoing, I'm not sure when we will get to it, but I hope we will finish it this year. There are so many books I want to tackle this year.
Vikki wrote: "I lov4ed Gatsby & The Beekeeper of Aleppo"Vicki, thanks so much for your feedback. Hope I like them, too. Check in when I r ad them. Just started The Paper Palace, seems good, but doubt I’ll finish this month. Try to read some other in February. Really like this group, glad you are part of it. 😊
Well, I finally got started on this Challenge. I read
and just finished
. I really loved both books and that each is about family.
Alissa wrote: "I have been eyeballing Paper Palace, sounds good!"Alissa, it is a complex book about family. I really loved it, but to let you know there are many incidents or rape and sexual abuse. It is not a light read, but I found it a compelling one.
4/2: Finished
last month. I really like Jonathan Franzen. This was a very complex books, and dealt with family, religion, rebellion, and growing up. 4 individual children growing up in the early 70’s and how each responds to their family with a Reverend Father, His Wife who does much work for him and also raises the children, and the outside with so much change occurring with the Vietnam War still going on. Excellent Writer. Love that this is the First book of a Trilogy. It will be really Interesting to see How the Kids do at a later time.
, was such a different type of book and very creative. Nghi Vo is a talented writer, so naturally I put in for her new book
, due for review on 5/10. Why, do I do this? Clearly, I don’t value sleeping. I want to try and get in
,
and
since they also fit in with several other challenges going on. Wish me luck.
Kudos on your progress already, and Good luck with the upcoming reads.
I have yet to pick up A Gentleman in Moscow. Alas....

Alondra, thanks so much. Don’t feel bad, my Dad gave me A Gentleman in Moscow 5 years ago.
Ioana wrote: "Good luck! These all sound interesting, although I haven't read any, hope you'll enjoy them."Ioana, Thanks, need the encouragement. Good it’s raining 🌧 today, perfect day to read a book.
Well, it’s 6/12 and just got 1 of my books read.
. I hate getting behind, and really have The Beekeeper of Aleppo on my Reading Now List. Hope I fit that in this month, so am on track. That would leave me 6 books in 6 months. 🤞 I get some read. Do love this challenge.
Desley (Cat fosterer) wrote: "Good luck catching up, I'm feeling behind, so I'm going to spend August only reading 12+4 books"Thanks ☺️ so much. That is an Excellent Idea, Focusing a Month Just for This. I have 2 books left for Motley Challenge and then have several other open Challenges, but might try August, too. Good Luck to you.
Best wishes on catching up! I haven’t finished a book on my list since May. Actually I am behind in most of my challenges. “Real life” has gotten in the way, lol. We can encourage each other, Happy Reading 📚💖📚

Alondra, it’s a great book, emotional and hard parts, but exceptional.
I finally got to read
, by Christy Lefteri. I found the book exceptional. It is such a beautifully written book with strong characters who must leave Aleppo and the couple become refugees. You really feel for them, both heartbreaking and uplifting. This is my review if anyone is interested: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Alondra wrote: "Only 1 more book to go!! You really tackled this list Kristine!"Alondra~Thanks so much 🌷I will read all 16, so have 5, but that I will finish. Picked so many books I’ve liked so far. I have 1 more book for the Motley Challenge, so doing well on this site. Think did 500+ page Tome, too. Of course, I joined many other challenges and also get NetGalley books. Too many, but usually have fun with them. I especially like this site. Enjoy your summer 📚
8/10: 1 more Read and I loved it! It was on my TBR for 5 years, so think it’s a good thing I finally listed it.
, Amor Towles Such an amazing book and loved the writing. I was captivated and the book just took me into another world for a few days. Love learning so much about Russia, the politics and the culture. ❤️❤️❤️
