I published my first children book in 2021, called "The Magic Mirror". I'm trying to get more reviews and exposure. Below you will find a summary of the book and a brief summary of who I'am and why I decided to write for children.
ABOUT THE BOOK:
The Magic Mirror is a short motivational bedtime story that aims at motivating children of colour to love themselves. It accentuates the bond between a mother and her daughter at bedtime.
The main character, Little Dayane, wondered what power her mother’s magic mirror hold. She will discover that the mirror talks and everything the mirror says are genuine and kind.
ABOUT ME THE AUTHOR:
Dayane is a self-taught Haitian fashion designer, writer born in Haiti living in England.
“I am on a mission of helping others through their self-search”.
I use my writing as an educational tool to promote black beauty and strength, to help children of colour to know and accept themselves just the way they are. I want them to know that they are equal to any other.

I grew up in the western world, where it was difficult for me to fit in as a Haitian dark-skinned women girl; this was accentuated by the fact that I did not have any role models teaching me how to love myself, instead , I was introduced to relaxers and bleach.
Becoming a mother is what helped me search into who I truly am. I discovered my story as a Black Haitian woman.
I encountered the beauty of Africa through my searches. I found my beauty through the strength of my nation. So, I decided to forgive myself and teach myself how to self-love and teach my daughter the same.
I hope you will be able to take the time to read the Magic Mirror and can see in it what I intended to be a resource to lift our children and see their beauty.
