Clouds in My Coffee (Country Club Murders #3), by Julie Mulhern, finished 4/14 ★★★★

What a fun book! If you are a fan of The Princess Bride, it's a must!

The World Played Chess ~ 400 pages"
Completed ~ 4.17.23
And this one is finished. It was an easy read (finished it in one sitting), but it was also a brutal read. I wrote a review, and I'm trying to find something light and happy to read next. It may take me a bit.

As You Wish is a fun book Jennifer!! Glad you enjoyed it.
Sorry about the heavy book Pat! Those are sometimes hard to recover from.

Finished ✔ - 21Apr 23 - 2** (grudgingly giving that second star)

Quipu of Caral
Museo Larco, Lima, Peru
One of the great mysteries of ancient Peru is that the Inca did not have a system of writing. Nonetheless, as this hunt's treasure shows, they learned to communicate with a unique system called quipu, which translates to "knot" in Quechua. Dating back to 2600 BCE, this intricate system of knotted strings of various colors, typically made of cotton or alpaca/llama hair, was used to store and convey both numerical and non-numerical information, much like we would use a spreadsheet or even a computer. Sometimes referred to as “talking knots,” they actually served as their writing system and their portability made is easy to transfer information over distances and time.
The Incas considered the task of creating, deciphering, and maintaining quipus a specialized skill, and they allowed only a class of people known as Quipucamayocs to perform this task. When the Spanish came to the Inca Empire, they wanted to learn the secret of quipus with the hope of finding treasure, but the Incas refused tp share the secret, even at the threat of death. So the knowledge to completely decipher these complicated knots was lost forever.
There are about 300 quipus now available in museums and academic institutions. Our treasure above is one of the most beautiful and is on display at Museo Larco in Lima, Peru. If you would like to learn more about this fascinating knot system, check out the Wikipedia page found here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quipu.
