Almost done with #8 for this challenge; will report back tonight.

Murder at the Dude Ranch (Rosa Reed #7), by Lee Strauss, finished 1/17 ★★★

Barb - I have a hard time jumping into a series in the middle. You are dedicated to do that for a challenge...lol.

Just as a curiosity, is there a time limit before you will reopen a number? I know sometimes people forget about interactive challenges.

And I wasn't planning on starting a new coordinate until this one is finished. I'm rethinking it a little but I'm going to give it another day or two.

I thought I would ask for opinions! Should we go ahead and start the coordinates for our Treasure Hunt #2 or wait until we've completed the first one??

Just my thought as someone who generally reads longer books and has several going, it takes me awhile to finish a book and I’d feel pressure to hurry up and finish my book if I knew everyone was waiting on me. So, I’d be more selective in the future of claiming a number and general just claim numbers for books I know will be quick reads.

I hope I wasn't as clear as mud!

Treasure #1
Huntington Library, Art Museum, and Botanical Garden in San Marino, California.
Pinkie and Blue Boy
Latitude: 34.127338
Longitude: -118.114475

Our first set of coordinates take us to the Huntington Library, Art Museum, and Botanical Garden in San Marino, California to see a treasure that is from my personal past. I grew up with these two famous paintings and they are dear to my heart. Known by most as Pinkie and Blue Boy, they are often paired together even though they were painted by different artists in different decades: Pinkie (Sarah Goodin Barrett Moulton) by Thomas Lawrence in 1794 and Blue Boy by Thomas Gainsborough in 1770. In fact, they actually face each other in the Thornton Portrait Gallery at the Huntington.
They were my mother's favorite paintings and we had copies of them hanging in our home. I have gone to the Huntington to visit the originals several times; in fact, the first time I went they actually brought tears to my eyes. They are so much larger than the prints I grew up with and they simply took my breath away. They are a big part of my childhood and I have copies hanging in my own home and consider them part of the family.
Hope you enjoyed our first treasure. If you would like to learn more about them you can find them separately on Wikipedia or check out this website which has some fascinating info about possible connections between the two paintings: https://inthevintagekitchen.com/2016/...
If you would like to learn more about The Huntington's library, museums or gardens - go to their website at www.huntington.org

I will take 1 from Longitude All Systems Red by Martha Wells Series #1

Very cool! My mother was fascinated by these, as well.
