You haven't met my husband (he is well past 50!) .... I, on the other hand, also well past 50, am a speed typist, using all my fingers.

I like Jason and Daniel, the MCs. Some of Jason's backstory was given in this one, but I suspect there's more to come, and I'm fascinated by what else he might have gone through to get where he is in this story. The time period (soon after the US Civil War) and setting (England, where Americans are considered foreigners) add interesting possibilities to the series.
Murder in the Crypt (Redmond & Haze #1), by Irina Shapiro, finished 9/13/22 ★★★★

And I appreciated your thoughts Barb! I think I might move it up in my line-up. I use to read a lot of historical fiction but got a little burned out. I might be ready to tackle it again.

Treasure #16
Latitude: 43.66829951
Longitude: -79.39494876
The Light of the Desert Cerussite Gem
Royal Ontario Museum, Toronto, CAN

Diamonds may be a girl’s best friend, but today's treasure, the 898-carat Light of the Desert Cerussite Gem, definitely outshines them. First in rarity, and secondly in terms of “dispersion” (also known as “fire”), which is the gem’s ability to reflect light to create the incredible kaleidoscope effect.
But don't expect to run out and find yourself one of these faceted gems to wear. Cerussite is an extremely delicate mineral that is rarely cut into a polished, finished stone and the cut gems are really much too fragile to wear. Along with the fact that cerussite is a mineral consisting of lead carbonate which is a known toxin to human health.
Originally found in northern Namibia, the piece of cerussite used to create the Light of the Desert, was acquired by a very talented gem cutter from Arizona. He cut the raw material into this gorgeous gem that is now the world's largest faceted cerussite stone. You can view it at the Royal Ontario Museum in Toronto, which if where our coordinates took us to. The transport from Arizona to Tononto was a delicate business due to the stone being extremely fragile and very sensitive to temperature changes and vibration. This video from the museum briefly discusses how they handled the process: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=REKCz...
When I first discovered this treasure I had never heard of this mineral. I've since learned that is an important secondary ore of lead and derives its name from the Latin word cerussa, meaning white lead. It is a highly sought after collection mineral because in its raw state it is known for its bizarre twinning habits that form an array of fascinating crystal formations. One such formation known as a snowflake, is pictured above. If you'd like to learn more about this mineral treasure check out the link below.

I'm claiming Latitude 3 with The Second Rule of Ten Published in 2013

I can take Latitude 1 with Bombshell, Book 1 in the Hell's Belles Series

Jennifer - your comment just made me think (for the first time) that the man who cut the gem would have had to take quite a lot of precautions while doing it.
I'll get you added to the coordinate list.
