Only Time Will Tell (Clifton Chronicles #1), by Jeffrey Archer, finished 5/2 ★★★.5

I can take that final 7 with Eternal Passage by Elaine Schulte, 279 pages.

Sweet Deal Sealed (Donut Lady #1), by Judith A. Barrett, finished 5/4/22 ★★★.5

I liked the first few chapters but then it went bad for me. It got tedious for one thing but he really turned into a bit of a pretentious prig which was the biggest problem for me. And he dropped the F bomb completely unnecessarily and awkwardly a few too many times to suit me. Glad to be done with it.

Andrea - I'm so sorry I missed your question. Just noticed it today. I've updated the coordinates in the post with the decimals (and minus sign).

My weekend went a ton faster than expected, with a sudden family thing I wasn't anticipating. Had much fun, but reading took a huge backseat.
Does someone want to take my number to finish up this round? I believe it was a 7. This week will be packed with work, and I don't want to hold us up all week.

Treasure #10
The Lewis Chessmen
Believed to be found in Bay of Uig on Isle of Lewis
Latitude: 58.19307
Longitude: -7.01255

How many of you are fascinated with the game of chess? I’ve always been in awe of those who have mastered this age-old game which originated in Asia and spread throughout Europe during the medieval period. A location in Europe is where our next treasure was found, though the details surrounding the discovery and exact location have been debated.
The coordinates we followed brought us to a secluded beach in the Bay of Uig on Scotland’s Isle of Lewis. This is where many believe these marvelous chess pieces was discovered in 1831. There is no clue how they came to be on that beach, which only adds to their mystery, especially since the style of carving suggests they were originally made in Norway during the 12th century.
The original hoard of Lewis Chessmen (and women), consisted of 93 gaming pieces, thought to be part of 4 distinct sets, all made of walrus ivory and sperm whale tooth.
Their gorgeous craftsmanship and unique expressions make them instantly appealing, from the queens’ worried manner to the warrior biting his shield. After passing through many private collections, the chessman were eventually split between the National Museum of Scotland in Edinburgh and the British Museum in London, who have loaned six pieces to the Museum nan Eilean on the Isle of Lewis. If you are a Harry Potter fan, you should recognize them from the first film where a replica set was used. If you are a chess player and these characterful pieces inspire you, purchase your own replica set and enjoy a little piece of history (and mystery) while playing.
You can learn more about the Lewis Chessmen by reading: The Lewis Chessmen Unmasked by David Caldwell
Or by visiting the National Museum of Scotland’s website: https://www.nms.ac.uk/explore-our-col...
Or check out this cool GR list: Chess Themed Fiction.
I can personally recommend: The Eight.

I'm claiming Longitude 2 with Spider Lake: A Northern Lakes Mystery Series #2

I can take the other Latitude 1 with Under the Whispering Door by T.J. Klune, published 2021

FINISHED ✔ - 19May22 - 2**

I won't take another spot this round. Gotta get back to those edits!
