Rooster & Pig has the following open calls for submission which lend themselves to the horror genre.
A Perfect System Anthology
It starts with an ideal. Some icon of perfection that everyone can agree upon. A better way of life for everyone. But at some point the ideal sours. When the government grows too large and the people too imperfect, the system breaks.
Give us your Dystopian worlds; show us how they started, what keeps them going, and the people who bring them crashing down. Tell us what happens to the government when it falls. Who comes in to replace it? Can they do better? Perhaps this government hides a secret? And perhaps the imperfect people are zombies?
R&P is seeking 20k- 35k word stories of dystopian fiction, and if you want to write a zombie apocalypse as the catalyst, we'd love it.
Deadline: December 31st
Supermassive Anthology
The brightest minds in our scientific community are working to untangle the mysteries of the black hole. They are recreating them in labs. Sending modules into space to record data from them. Impossible physics, incredible friction, the singularity- all speedbumps in the name of discovery.
If they are sucked in, accidentally or purposely, what will they find on the other side? A different time? A new civilization? Or something that will destroy us all? Can they act as wormholes? Do they evaporate over time? What secrets do they hold? If we drove a ship through the center of one, what would we find on the other side?
R&P is seeking Science Fantasy stories between 10k and 45k words that will take us on elaborate adventures around and through a black hole.
