Amari and the Night Brothers by BB Alston
hunger games (suzanne collins), percy jackson (rick riordan)...
i would say Keeper of the Lost Cities is kinda similar :))
Carry On (Simon Snow #1) by Rainbow Rowell.It takes place in England, they have a magic school, and a Chosen One.
If you like Harry Potter, this is perfect.
Jessica Townsend's series (still running) about Morrigan Crow (first book Nevermoor) is somehow compared to Harry Potter books by some reviews, though I don't see much similarity. But those books are also set in a magical world and I think the story's original. Would recommend.
