How do you organize your bookshelf? Height? Color?

message 2: by [deleted user] (new)

I tried to do by author, but that didn't last long. Now my organization is wherever it fits.

We have the same issues with shelving😂

I do it by height.

☕️hannah☕️ i organize by genre and height usually

Isabelle | 964 comments Genre and height for me, as well. I always group series together.

If you go by size and do taller books on a shelf and shorter books on another, you can fit more above them. I have learned this from experience.

but if you take a book out from under another book it''ll fall through and mess up the whole thing.

This might be the topic I get snobby about

Well if I had more shelves I could fit them nicely. I, unfortunately, don't have the space for all 500 of my books.

5...500? Daaaaaaaaaang.

Arianna My dad had to buy me another bookshelf and yet I still can’t fit them. Some are on the floor, some are under my bed, in my dresser, on my dresser, and whatever I can fit is are on my shelves

message 17: by Isabelle (new)

Isabelle | 964 comments I think I might have 100. Maybe.

I have roughly 300 physical books, but a lot of books I read online

message 19: by Isabelle (new)

Isabelle | 964 comments Actually, I take that back. I just went and did a rough count, there were about 90 on my main shelf...and 3 or 4 boxes in my closet that I forgot about.

How do you manage to forget 3 or 4 boxes full of books?

Book - Dragon Oh, I just stick them in my shelf wherever.....

message 24: by Hailey (new)

Hailey (hva333) | 44 comments I organize them alphabetically, but sometimes I stack them from smallest (top) to biggest (bottom).

I'm a neat freak so I do alphabetically by the authors last names...

I tried to do that, but it didn't last long. My siblings borrow my books a lot and always put them in the wrong spot. Plus I have too many at this point to hope for any organization.

message 28: by Book - Dragon (new)

Book - Dragon I used to have them organized by genre, but now....EXPLOSION!

Only 100 absolute favorites😂
Every bookworm in the world!

message 31: by [deleted user] (new)

I need to get a real book shelve. I just moved so most of my books are in boxes....

message 32: by Carina (new)

Carina Shephard (carinashephard) I used to have three bookcases, but the third one took up too much room so now I have two. The larger one I use for fiction and I sort the books alphabetically by author, with one mini-shelf set aside for my Tales of Goldstone Wood series. My other, smaller bookcase is non-fiction, and I sort the top shelf alphabetically by author, the middle shelf is for notebooks, and the bottom shelf is for Bibles and devotionals.

A small percentage of my books are actually on my bookshelves, most of them are either in storage (which I’m planning on going through this year) or in a digital format.

Does anyone else when they’re watching a YouTube video with a bookcase in the background stare at it for the whole time and try to read the spines? Or is it just me? 😛

It would be so cool if we could post pictures of how we organize on here! But I’m not sure if that’s possible or how to do that, other than putting it on our profiles… 🤷‍♀️

Yep, it's interesting to see their collection and how they sort
