Nikki Curtis | 2 comments Need first time “shifter” book recommendations. Normally go for “enemies/lovers, romantic mysteries etc. but need help picking a solid one in the new genre without picking one that burns the idea all together. Maybe not “teens”?
Thank you

Kandice | 271 comments Gail Carriger has a series called The San Andreas Shifters. The first is The Sumage Solution, then Marine Biology, The Omega Objection and The Enforcer Enigma.

It's a solid series and one of the few of hers that isn't SteamPunk.

Jan (jan130) | 413 comments Slave to Sensation is a solid intro to Nalini Singh's popular romantic shifters series, Psy-Changelings.

I agree Patricia Briggs books are solid too. She's a quality writer and her new books are auto buy for me. If you want a shorter sampler, you could try Alpha & Omega which is a well-crafted novella that introduces Briggs' other shifter series, Alpha and Omega. (The novella is a prequel to Cry Wolf mentioned by Caillen.)

I also enjoyed the Seven series by Dannika Dark, about wolf shifters. First book is Seven Years

Happy reading, Nikki. There's so much out there to enjoy.

DivaDiane SM | 3676 comments Oh! Trader, by Charles De Lint just came to mind (not shifting but body swapping, so tangential)

Michelle (michellehartline) | 3169 comments If you're into shifting stories with a little smut on the side, Sherrilyn Kenyon has a ton of books along those lines.

I forgot about Charles de Lint until I saw your post, Diane! He had another good one: Moonheart.

DivaDiane SM | 3676 comments Oh yes! I’ve read that and a lot of other books by De Lint and enjoyed them all quite a bit. It’s been a while though, I don’t remember, does Moonheart have shifters in it?

I believe it had a friendly werewolf. But now I'm wondering if I'm mistaking it with another de Lint book. I haven't read it in years! Has anyone else out there read Moonheart?

I blame its tight pacing and strong characterization for missing my bus stop--twice. Here's my two-sentence review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
