It's a solid series and one of the few of hers that isn't SteamPunk.

I agree Patricia Briggs books are solid too. She's a quality writer and her new books are auto buy for me. If you want a shorter sampler, you could try Alpha & Omega which is a well-crafted novella that introduces Briggs' other shifter series, Alpha and Omega. (The novella is a prequel to Cry Wolf mentioned by Caillen.)
I also enjoyed the Seven series by Dannika Dark, about wolf shifters. First book is Seven Years
Happy reading, Nikki. There's so much out there to enjoy.

I forgot about Charles de Lint until I saw your post, Diane! He had another good one: Moonheart.

I believe it had a friendly werewolf. But now I'm wondering if I'm mistaking it with another de Lint book. I haven't read it in years! Has anyone else out there read Moonheart?

Indeed there are!

I blame its tight pacing and strong characterization for missing my bus stop--twice. Here's my two-sentence review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
