Always great to have these lists to choose from and highlight books that we can learn from.
I am currently reading Unreconciled by Jesse Wente (will add the link when my computer charges). He shares his experiences growing up in Toronto (must be similar age to me based on some of the stories), as a movie critic and working at TIFF. I am at the point now where he speaks about Avatar (I have never seen it) and how racist the movie was yet it became a blockbuster hit. So much to think about and learn from!!

Thinking more about Unreconciled: Family, Truth, and Indigenous Resistance, it could fit in a number of categories:
B3 - MJ's Pick - A non-fiction book by a BIPOC author that illustrates a BIPOC experience in Canada
I1 - A book that you would give others as a gift
I3 - A book the would be perfect for book club discussions
N4 - A book based on a true story
G3 - Kathleen’s pick - A book by a Canadian author who is new to you
G4 - Allison’s pick - A book that features 3 generations (grandparent, parent, child)
O2 - A book written that makes you think about the importance of equity, diversity and anti-racism
O5 - A book that you would recommend for Canada Reads
so many options at the beginning of the year!
