I started the year pledging 50 books. After I had read around 76 books, I changed it to 100. I am at 97/100, 31 ahead of schedule!
Paula — That’s not too bad, same deficit as last month. I still have confidence you can catch up.
Teresa — Nice, steady progress!
Cheryl — That’s phenomenal, way to go!

Karen M — I’m still not a big audiobook user. I manage maybe one a month, usually something really short. Good for you for almost reaching your goal!
Brenna — Here’s hoping you have a better reading month, and hey, you are still ahead of your goal. 🙂

Brenda — You still make me feel like a slacker, LOL, though I know I read faster than some of my friends.
As for audiobooks, it’s not that I don’t listen to them at all, just not very often. Maybe one or two a month, and usually either something short (middle grade or novella length) or a book I can’t get hold of in print or ebook. For example, I listened to Destination Unknown on YouTube this summer because I didn’t have it and no book budget at the time. It was actually pretty short, I think under seven hours, and had a good narrator. Not my preferred reading format, but it works in a pinch, so long as I don’t try listening in bed.

I don't listen to them at all, easier for me to read them myself :)

I'm also an audiobook addict. Half of my reading are audiobooks which I listen to while cooking, in the bath tub, doing house chores, playing mobile games, etc. I'm semi-retired now but audiobooks were a lifesaver during my long commutes to work. I'll even use the text to speech function for ebooks if there is no audio available.

Brenna — Here’s hoping you have a better readi..."
I can't just sit and listen to audio books which will put me to sleep
but they are great to listen to while I cook or clean or get dressed in the morning and making the bed, anything that is mindless or automatic to me. I know people listen to them while they drive but I don't even listen to the radio while I drive so that one I don't do.
Mark — Sounds like you have a nice pace going.
Zermeena — Nice progress! I have tried listening to audiobooks while doing the stationary bike, but I don’t listen to books or music while walking. I like to be aware of my surroundings and hear the rude bicyclists coming up behind me.

Julesy — You’re on a roll! I read my first Wimpy Kid Book last month. Easy to see the attraction to this series and the format. Fast reads and entertaining!
Karen — I can’t just sit and listen, either. They’re great for crafting sessions, though, so long as you don’t let your mind wander. 🙄

Happy fall! 🍁 🍂
I hope everyone had a good September and made excellent progress in their challenge(s). I read 20 short stories for a grand total of 230, and finished 13 books which puts me at 119/120 (+30). I am definitely increasing my goal again. If I can keep up my current pace I should be able to finish 150, but with the holidays coming up I’m going to be a bit cautious and only up it to 140.
Three of the books read applied to my PopSugar Challenge, which puts me at 47/50 — one more than last year and only three to go. I have one book planned for each of the next three months. Two are almost 600 pages each, but I’m hoping they pull me in the way book one in the series did and they are fast reads. I only have about half a dozen books planned for both November and December, so lots of leeway there.
How are you progressing with your challenge?

I will probably leave my goal as is and see how far over I go. It's been super busy so definitely reading less, but still happy I've more than doubled what I read last year. This year is already a win!
Excellent, Teresa!
Did you all receive a challenge update from GR today? I have to scoff every time I get one of these, because for months now it has not accurately reflected my progress, always showing me further along than I am. It shows me at 125/120. I am actually at 120/140 (I increased my goal a week ago). There seems to be an error in their algorithm, LOL. 🙄

I was looking for a place to ask this question. Weeks ago GR UI, at least for the book entries, seemed to change. Then about a week later, it reverted back. Does anyone know anything about this? I thought the change was simply horrible. But now you have me concerned they may be cooking up other changes that I won't like.
UI? Please translate for those of us who don’t speak computer.
If you’re referring to the changes in the individual book information pages, it was discussed elsewhere in the group, I think under the “Admin” section. GR was doing a beta test for a new format of book info pages. They suddenly switched the current/old format with their awful beta format for a few weeks, but A) no one I know in the numerous groups I am in likes their new format and B) their beta format was buggy. I could not see book info at all for the weeks it was in place. It kept erring. After much complaining from GR members, they finally reverted to the old format. However, they may try to cram the new format down our throats again sometime in the future. Why would they listen to those of us who actually use the site?

Ain’t that the truth! 😐

It sure is!! And I had no idea it had reverted back as mine hasn't changed at all!! I've been waiting, dreading what everyone else has been complaining about!!

Shhhhh! Don't bring this to their attention :)"
Haha no not likely!!

For the record I loathe the new page format. Print too big and because of that I have to scroll and scroll to get what information I want!
Karen M — That has been a common complaint by GR members, myself included. The problem is that they’re trying to make book info pages look more like the Amazon site, and people don’t like that either. You shouldn’t have to scroll and scroll and scroll to find out basic info.

🎃 HAPPY HALLOWEEN! 👻
I finished book 131 of 140 today, which puts me fifteen books ahead. I read twelve books and ten short stories in October. Most months I read about twice as many print books as ebook or audiobooks, but this month was evenly divided between physical and ebooks. November will probably be evenly split as well.
For other challenges, I am 48/50 for the Popsugar Challenge, with one book planned for November, one for December. I also went back this month and looked at the prompts for the Around the Year (ATY) Challenge and was able to check off 50/52 prompts with books read this year. One of my PS books will work for ATY, so only need one more book there. My short story total is at 240.
I hope you all had a good reading month as well!

Congrats on your achievement, Linda, and good luck getting to 150!
Realistically, if I keep up with my current pace, I should join you at the 150 mark. However, even if I get to 140 in November I will not increase my goal again.

Brenna, I’m exact opposite. I tend to read less in November and December because it’s such a busy time of year. I’m sure you’ll have no problem surpassing your goal.

Well done Linda! I'm reading my last one for the challenge now, so will have it done soon. I also like to see how far over I go by the end of the year :)
